Falken VS Nankang VS General Tire. Need Opinions.

Post by deep1ca » Wed Apr 30, 2008 2:09 am

I'm gonna be picking up some budget tires this week and Its going to be between Nankang NS-2 VS General Tire Ultra HPR Radial G/T VS Falken ZE-912

I'm having trouble finding information on the Ultra HPR ... it seems like a handful of companies have made the same tire under the same name. Companies such as Goodyear, General Tire, Republic, Star, and Marshal. They seem to have a deeper tread pattern then the Nankangs. Falken is the superior brand, but the other two tires seem to have a better tread pattern.

Any one have any experience with a any of these tires?

Nangkang NS-2

So these are my 3 options.

i haven't heard anything bad about the Nangkang NS-2 but i have heard some bad things about the General tire; I've heard that even tho its a cheap tire its not worth the money to buy it.

I wouldn't buy either.. I would spend a bit more and get a quality tire from a major company.

Ok we have a new player. My 3 options are the Nankangs, Generals, or Falkens.

Falken ZE-912

What do you guys think of those?

How much money are you looking to spend? Are you looking for local or mail order or doesn't matter?

yeah go with the falkens i know first hand that the 512 is an amazingly well balanced tire with great wear, grip, handling, and hydroplaning resistance.

Falkens are awesome. If I had a choice, I'd be running azenis 24/7 since they're like $60 a shot for my 98. The fiance dosen't like the idea though, so I'm running the Ziex series.

I'm canada so prices of tires are more expensive (bullshit).

Nankang NS-2 = $90 installed & balanced
General Ultra HPR = $88 installed & balanced
Falken ZE - 912 = $100 installed & balanced

And these are pretty much the cheapest tires I can find locally.

Falken!
I've had my Azenis for a couple of years now, so I would actually suggest those. Just make sure you get them off before it snows (if it does snow in your area), otherwise you will go nowhere.
