tinted tails question

Post by jckevns » Thu May 01, 2008 12:18 am

i was thinking about ordering some niteshade from modern to tint my tails

for those of you that have your tails tinted did it reduce the light output alot?
i was only thinking about putting on a coat, two at the most
i don't want people rear ending me cause they can't see my breaklights

I had 3 coats on my RX-300 taillights. Lightoutput was fine, the tails were black as night, and no cop ever bothered me

I have mine tinted too, but not with ventshades spray. I used tinted vinyl. Looks great and I have no complaints, only compliments. Mine always has a nice polished looked due to the vinyl and easy to clean. Been on now for a year and I half and no worries with the cops. I will post a pic below:

to me vinyl was cheaper since I got it free. It is easy to work with, and cleaning them is nothing to it. The only thing about them is that right after installaion you may see a few lines from where you aplied it little by little. But after it is in the heat this summer the lines will fall out with no problem. Took me like 10 minutes per light doing it myself, but having a helping hand to help hold the light then one applying the vinyl is easier.

At most hobby stores. Generally little places that do model airplanes and cars and such. Cost me $5 for the can

^ yeah that's what i used too (even though the can is small, it does the job for both tails) & 2 codes is perfect cuz you can still see through a little, almost like a "smoked" effect
