Tie Rods

Post by Nalayah » Mon May 05, 2008 12:35 am

Note: Much of this happened last year, but gas prices are finally getting to me, and I'm pulling my Neon out of the garage.

My '03 SXT seems to need new tie rods due to my sister hitting a truck when changing lanes (smashed in the front quarter panel too). The dealership, when I went to have my car aligned, said "Drivers side out <#> degrees. Front end component possibly bent, could not complete alignment." Tire wear is also uneven. My step-dad and I are assuming this to be the tie rods. Would they be it? Would it just be the outer end, or would I need to replace both? (If I'm going to have both ends off, I may as well replace both)

It could just be the outer tie rod end but get under and inspect them to be sure. The inner tie rod isn't servicable through Mopar parts but you can get it from the aftermarket Hopefully it isn't your rack thats damaged but the best course of action right now is to jack up the car to inspect them, look for play, bent rod, ect... to see if anything looks out of the norm.
