Intake Cover?

Intake Cover?

Post by GT Neon » Tue May 06, 2008 10:09 pm

So what benefit is it if I removed the intake box cover? It is much louder with the cover removed which reminds me of what an Iceman sounded like in my 1gn.

I took mine off for a bit after i took out the resonator box. Yea it was louder but i got annoyed wit it. I seemed to bog down before accelerating. Just leave it on.

I had the opposite problem. My car would fall on it's face no matter how high of rpms I shifted into 2nd or 3rd even after removing the resonator box. Once I removed the top it drives great. The good thing about these neons is the filter allows for running an open box.

Mine doesn't bog down on take off at all, not sure why it's different for me. Are you ATX? That may be the difference.

My car is an ATX with a K&N filter now. I kind of enjoy the sound as odd as that sounds but I would rather it be the sound of a turbo but I will take what I can get.

Yea mine is ATX. It was loud il say that but i didnt like the bogging down part. I say try it for a day. No harm will be done and youll see if you like it. Take out the resonator box too. It will still be a lil louder even wit the cover on

It'll actually hurt it since you'll be pulling air in from the engine bay which is hotter and less dense.
