new gauge cluster

Post by Moparty08 » Wed May 07, 2008 5:59 pm

Is there any way to get a digital gauge cluster in my neon? Has anyone ever heard of anything like this or know where to find something like this?

so i guess that will never happen then. Damn. was looking foward to a more accurate gas gauge. I know everybody talk about them. I park in my girlfriends driveway which is a pretty big slope and when i start my car again my gauge says i lost a quarter of a tank.

a different gas gauge would do nothing for that problem... it's a Neon... components made so the car is cheap... you would probably need a custom gas tank, custom sending unit and a custom gauge

OR you can get a ScanGauge II. It's not a needle meter, but it will tell you how many miles you have left till empty digital style. And it tells you lots of other useful information in a small package. It plugs into your OBD port and reads straight from your cars computer so you know it's accurate.

And most cars the needle goes down on slopes. It's normal. My 93 civic it reads completely empty on steep hills. It pretty much never reads accurate while driving, it's not until it's parked for a couple of minutes that I actually know how much gas I have.

*cough*

this might help if you can do graphics and know anything about electronics....

http://www.fusioncontrolcentre.com/Fusi ... /index.php

quick rundown...you can read in 0-5v sensors and tell the software what to do with it...so....for a fuel gauge, find the voltage for Full and the voltage for Empty, use that as the range, then setup a calculation to turn the voltage into a gallon reading...

it would require a carpc, so its not a small investment, but the things you can do with that item are incredible, to say the least :)
