I believe that you still have to replace it because there isn't a mod to fix/modify the heater circuit. All the defowler mod does is take the O2 sensor out of the exhaust flow so that it isn't reading everything that is there, it doesn't change the heater circuit.

The only mod would be to find out how much resistance the heater has, then find a resistor with the same value, durable enough to use as a substitute. Other than that you will either have to buy a new one or find a used one and hope the heater is working. I would think a cheaper aftermarket one would work fine as the quality os the o2 part isn't a concern in this case. Wasting $110+ would not be my personal choice to fix something I've bypassed! I don't know that a shorted heater will damge the PCM, but you may consider cutting one/both of the white heater wires to prevent damage to the PCM, (on the sensor side of the connector obviously) till you find a replacement. The grey and black should be for the oxygen sensor part. Don't cut those or you will get another code. If you do cut them wrap the ends to prevent shorting to ground, too.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.
