Whats wrong with this tranny?

I test drove an 03 MTX SXT tonight.. the car was pretty nice but the tranny had some problems going into second. Whenever you forced it into second it would make a grindy-clicky sorda noise, and wouldn't always catch the gear. It kinda sounded like when you pull up the e-brake, but the sound was deeper and louder. When I double clutched it had no problem going into second. Only had the problem from the 1 - 2 shift. All other shifts into all other gears were good.

I think that it's a common problem, I think theres a sticky about it, I'd try a search since I know that this has been covered somewhere.

maybe the guy though it would be fun to shift it with out the clutch!!.... i had a roush focus i did that with an fucked it all up good!!
