I have a friend that has a 96 sebring jxi. It has the 2.4 DOHC. The engine runs, but something is wrong with the trans, he doesnt really know what. I guess it is the same problem that those cars have at around 120000 miles. He said he would sell it to me for $500. I really want to get the car for my fiance, she wants a sporty convertible and I dont want her to get another ford and Im thinking a 2.4 convertible would be sporty enough. What does it take to put a new trans in the car. Will a trans from a stratus or PT or even an SRT4 bolt right on? Also I was thinking of turboing it. If I was to take the stock turbo, manifold, oil pan and pretty much everything i would need off of an SRT4 or PT, will that just bolt on? What will have to change with the PCM, could I just plug in a factory SRT4 PCM or would I have to keep the one thats in there and use a piggy back system?

Remove alot of stuff and put the new one back in, should take about a weekend...

any trans from a 2.0, 2.2, 2.4 or 2.5 I4 will bolt right on...

Base engine is the same with minor tweaks to the cooling passages and oil squirters for the back of srt pistons...

You would need an '03+ wireharness along with the entire sentry system. Don't know what it is? search...

Or go standalone and have Megasquirt control everything...
