Wheels Next really that bad?

Post by MyNeonSaysHi » Tue May 20, 2008 3:43 pm

To start it off I had good luck with WheelsNext.com when I ordered a set of wheels and tires for my 01 Neon. They arrived quickly with no problems at all.

Times have changed.

I ordered a set of rims from them and they ship them out. I get them and they look great. But then I ran into a problem. I noticed the hub centric rings they gave me would not fit on my car. They fit inside of the rim perfectly, but would not fit on the hub. I got a I.D> of 54.06 which should of been a 57.10. I call them up and I can not get a hold of them for the life of me! I am on hold for 20 or so minutes on 3 different occasions and I just give up. One time they hung up on me... I finally get a hold of someone and explain to him my problem. He was like, "Okay we will fix that for you and send out the right ones" Alright I thought.

2 weeks pass and no hub centric rings. I try getting a hold of them again and sure enough this turns into a chore. Their customer service really sucks. I even tried emailing 2 different address on their site.. Still no response. I FINALLY get a hold of a guy and procede to tell him about my crummy situation. I am being very cool about the whole thing. He said that they will get them in to the warehouse tomorrow and he will send me a tracking number via email and he apologized for what happened with the other guy who never followed through with anything. But now this guy "Julio" seems to have everything under control. Sure enough I get a trackin number via email. "Finally!" I thought.

Well I got the hub centric rings, these were just loose inside of a little box with no package. My original ones came in plastic bag with a label on them etc. So sure enough I jack the car up, take a wheel off to find out its the exact same size as my other ones... Great. It had the right size on the invoice too... Now I have to try to get a hold of these yahoo's again. They are gonna think I am pulling their chain I bet.

My brother also had a problem with them. He bought a set of wheels and tires and they put the wrong tires on his package. He also didn't get hub centric rings or his center caps. Took him around 2 months to resolve that whole mess.

Had the same kind of problems. I didn't get any hub centric rings. Also they mounted all my tires the same way. When I contacted them about this, they only reimbursed me for part of the cost of flipping two tires. Total crap. Also I rubbed two of my wheels parking, but I had purchased the additional wheel protection program. When I called them about it, they told me it only covered wheels damaged to the point that they couldn't be driven on. I said fair enough, what about the one year coverage for free that you advertise and covers all damage including curb rash. He said he'd call me back. Big surprise, I never got a call. I called them back, talked to a different person, and had the same conversation. It was pretty funny, because everytime they thought they had gotten out of repairing them, I brought up their fabulous free warranty advertised on their site. They would go speechless for a few minutes and then would tell me they'd call me back. I gave up, and will never do business with them again.

Damn that sucks! ^^^
So they mounted your tires backwards, ahaha. Were they directional too?

Once I think about it I never got hub centric rings with my set I bought for my 01 Neon years back...

I had a close encounter with curbing my rims...very close. But nothing happened. Pheeew.

I got an email from Julio and he didn't apologize or anything. Just asked for my account information. (Name, home addy, and zipcode.)

3rd times a charm right?

Yeah, the best part was that they were Nitto Nt 555's, so they say right and left on the tire. Its pretty easy, mount two with the word "right" facing out and two with the word "left' facing out. I used Wheels Studio this time, and they were pretty great. Wheels fit great, gave me hub rings that fit, and they were a breeze to deal with.

A few years back they were decent but now they are cutting corners and selling such shitty quality wheels and tires it's not worth it to bother. Spend the money on a quality wheel and tire package. You may pay more but it will be worth it in the long run.

Personally, I like TireRack.com and EdgeRacing.com -- both have offered nothing but the best customer service and awesome shipping, prices and such. I will buy from them again for sure.

I use tirerack when I can, but they're selection of wheels isn't that great. I'll have to check out edgeracing.com next time I'm looking for a set of wheels. I had a really good experience with Wheels Studio.
