What size?

Post by onewickedkid05 » Tue May 20, 2008 10:56 pm

So i have 17in rims and right now they have a 40 series tire on them

Now i am not a fan of the rubber band tire and recently i have lowered my car with skunk2 springs and tokico blue shocks. I also added an RT rear sway bar. Does any1 know the biggest tire i can go on the 17in rim would be before i run into problems with rubbing and turning.

I would like to get at least 45-50 series, for more tread and well because they are cheaper :)

Ty in advanced

why not replace them with srt struts and lowering springs, that way you can run with a taller tire.

if you want 17's your gonna have to go with a low profile tire, even 45 or 50 series is pretty thin.

the series does not relate to the tread, only the side wall. the tire should still have around 11/32" of tread when new.

well the only reason i want a higher number side wall is because As of right now With the suspension i have my car hits bumps like i have rims on now (hard). So once i put the low pros on i am scared of hitting so hard my kidneys come loose. SO i was trying to find a tire that might provide better support

ok you can go with a bigger tire.. you have tokico struts so your good clearence wise.. probaly for a 45 or 50 series.. its not the drop that makes the tires not fit.. its the spring perch... 215/40/17 is the perfect size tire which duplicates stock size.. so your speedo wont be off. although with any thing other then srt rims.. something which is 7 or 8 inches wide i would run 225
