and if you need to trade your neon in, just simply don't. you'll only get about 4k or 5k out of it

I like to open the engine bay and look at the frame where the hood shuts to make sure it's never been bent and fixed from even a minor front end collision. I also (and this may be weird but hey, it's me) like to do a VERY slow walkaround of the car, even getting on the ground and checking under the front valence to make sure there are NO dings, dents, or scratches. If there are, I have asked the dealership to fix them as part of the purchase deal, and they have. Don't be afraid to ask them to fix little things like that. They're fixated on the sale it seems like, and are willing to do things like that in order to get your business.Fuzzyneon wrote:I agree Lol im oging up friday to look at it if all goes well ill be driving it home =) anyone know what to look for on these cars as far as damage or abuse?

The Competition Group added about $1K to the sticker so that would explain the higher price for the ACR. Hope that you get the car that you want!
When I bought mine in '06, I had a choice of the one that I bought (in Iowa) or one just like it with the Comp Group (in New Jersey). The dealership in NJ wouldn't give me the Green Slip (Chrysler Employee Price) and suggested that I finance for eight years! They did offer either a Dell PC or a one-way plane ticket and a tank of gas if I bought their car. The Iowa dealership offered a price below Green Slip so I had to pass on the ACR. Off-topic but I thought that someone might find it interesting.
The first one is just like mine except I have the SRS seats and lower mileage.

For what its worth go for the second one.. but I would warn you.. I lost financing on an SRT4 I found with 19k Miles on it.. was a good thing too.. the turbo gave out the 2nd day I had it.. on the 3rd day they called and asked for the car back over financing.. so I got lucky..
13k Hard Miles is worse than 28k Easy Miles..
that said.. the ACR Looks nice but its a pretty steep price.. You could probably find one with 30k miles on it for around 14k to 15k wholesale (thats what they are going for at auction here).
Oh yeah did you ever get that lip kit on there?
Good luck.

i have to second (or third) the idea of having any dealership repair anything that you find wrong on a car as part of the deal.
long ago i had a friend who was the aftermarket parts / closer for a dealership. once you had approval for a loan and had picked out your car, you were brought to this guy. he would "close out" your deal/paperwork and then sell aftermarket goodies and snake oils, like the $800 paint sealer. i went there to buy a used car and ended up picking a mustang convertible. i looked over the car and didn't see much wrong with it other than normal wear and tear, but then my friend came out to help me. (i got lucky that he hated the salesman who had picked me up so he was more than willing to tell me what value to go for). he went over it with a fine tooth comb and came up with a list of items that i would never have even thought to ask for. in the end they touched up all paint chips on the front, put in a new rubber seal on a window, 2 new tires AND a brand new convertible top. all for $2000 under the sticker price on the car.
don't feel intimidated at all when you go shopping. the sales weasel is there to serve you and gain your trust (and money) by kissing your ass.
that being said, for $30k you can get a lot more car than a neon

Get the ACR. The didn't make very many of em and if you have the money, the ACR is the way to go. If I remmber correctly, there were only 500 per year made (so 1500). A friend of mine had one and rolled it ( I wanted to kick his ass for that). It was a great car.
