usually the all in ones are like that for a reason.

its not that stressful you just pick an amp or pick a sub(s) you want and build arround that. visonik is garbage man, i had an ex with those in her camaro and it was the biggest pile of donkey shit ive ever seen, all of the all-in-ones are

if you want ill tell you what to get if you have a sub or amp in mind... or price range

i work in a audio shop and trust me, every time we have a kid come and say I have a "1000" amp and 2 subs and we see its visonic we crack up laughing. I dont know what kind of shops you have around you, but fo rthe money you really cant go wrong with this kenwood setup I sell. It comes with 2 12's and an amp built specifically for those woofers. the model is KFC-w16s I believe or something like that. I sell them for 249 and all you need after that is wiring kit and box. Check it out on the web. If you want some serious sound, with out all the power adders like better battery or caps. go with the dual 12 inch Rockford P1 box with the rockford p300-1 amp. list price on all that is baout 500, but im sure you find someone to give you a deal.

see thats just why i'm lookin at the sub systems from visonik is because well i want a cheaper system with a decent bump now i'm not expecting to get sum alpine type r bumpage but i'd like to have some decent bass. Summers here and its time for thatstuff to go in. i know everyones like save for sumthing good but i'm paying off rims, body work and everythingelse that goes with the car on the side i'd like to spend the little money i got left on some subs.

It be great if someone could get me a deal i'd be forever in debt and even some direction.

Ok well if you want bass even if its just a lil thump visoinik wont do shit for you TRUST ME. Get something around 300 watts RMS to one sub. ive heard a couple systems that we like this and they sounded good. Its not guna be comparable to Craz1000's setup but its decent. Mine is 200 RMS and it turns some heads. I would check out Blaupunkt. Theyre stuff is affordable and it sounds great. Or the lower end Memphis. Its called street something.

personally i have this

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-XRywPkLAsk ... =236RTP112

and it sounds good. its not ridiculous loud but like jetas it turns heads at times. that particular package is discontinued but thats one example of what you could look for.

and you could drop the cash on an infinity basslink system and let us all know how it sounds.. im still curious..

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/ ... 108BASSLIN

less than $200 on ebay

pair of jl 10s, 8 ohm, $159.98

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_102 ... 1v2-8.html

cadence amp, does 600 x 1 @ 4ohm, perfectly mated for the jls, $129 (free shipping)

http://www.cadencestore.com/ProductCart ... roduct=382

then you can have a really nicely made custom box for pretty cheap, like $100-125, from the guy in this thread

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=317502

get a wiring kit and you are set with a really nice system, that will pound, for around $500 total. this of course is just my opinion on a nice budget system with quality components. be careful, or you will go all out and spend way more than you should as i am doing right now.

oh man... yeah 200 ain't much. my subs alone were 150 each. before the boxes. i'd say that i got a good 1000-1200 invested into a my system. it all racks up real fast

it is possible to get something for 200 but you arent gonna get much out of it... if you can spend a little more get an infinity bass-link. its good clean bass and descent quality, you get the sub, amp, box all in one you just have to run wire.... its a little more louder than the stock kicker system.

other than that 400+ is what your looking at.

also remember clean bass is louder than loud bass.

i've looked around here and you can't get nothing, i can get visonik for like 160 off ebay, there is a place here tho that sells subs no name for sum reason and there in a carpeted black box and pound pretty good from what i hear from a kid i work with. anyway you get 2 10" subs in ported box, carpeted with plexiglass front. the place charges like 129 for that. so there is that route but everything is a no name brande which makes me think even visonik might be better lol.

And every actual audio store here sells stuff way over priced, an 8" infinity sub box and amp is like 500+ yea and they say thats a good deal here.

So thats y i look to ebay lol. Crutchfield canada does not have deals like the us one where u get everything u need so that sucks.

i don't know what to do. lol i want a sub so bad but don't want to buy one that juss sucks lol

for some reason this thread feels like deja vu.. maybe it was you or maybe it was someone else but someone did not know what to get and basically wasnt sure of what they even wanted as far as their system was concerned.. i think it was you but im not going to bother finding the topic

the bottom line is if you want to stay within a budget then your options are limited.. and if youre going with a low end system then it doesnt really matter because it will all sound the same.

if all you want is some bass so your music sounds better and dont want to be heard a block away then visonik or whatever will be fine, or any no name or low end product also. obviously youre not going to be entering any competitions with it, but you only want some bass remember.

the people that have commented so far are pretty much biased one way or another.. working as an installer / in a store, or just used to high end systems or whatever... so anything less than what they are used to is going to suck

my first sub box in my first car was some no name $30 dual 10" sub box from a wholesale club, i think the amp was a jensen from walmart .. and you know what? i drove down the street and set off a car alarm when i drove by.

you have to start somewhere.

Lightning Audio Bass Package Free shipping on this item
150-watt amplifier, 10" subwoofer in truck-style enclosure, and wiring
IN STOCK

* set includes a 2-channel amp (150 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms), a sealed truck-style enclosure with one 10" subwoofer (power range 50-150 watts RMS), and a 10-gauge power and signal wiring kit

from crutchfield. dont know about the availability to canada but that package will shake your trunk. lightning audio i saw was a division of rockford fosgate, but i dont know about the quality.. but its better than what you have now and its within your budget.. hell it even includes a wiring kit. if you cant get it to canada then get someone in the US to buy it for you. youll end up paying a littlem ore for shipping to you but it would still be a decent deal i think.

or get an infinity basslink off ebay like i said, and like Craz1000 also said. i checked again and i didnt see many that were as cheap as i have seen before, but its still an option.

otherwise youll have to spend a little more and build a system. sub, amp, box, wiring kit.

and this all assumes you even have a head unit worth putting something on.

Im telling you if you want PM me i can see what shipping would be for my Earthquakes 600 watts RMS a piece.. You just need an amp which u can get off ebay for like 110 bucks and ur done. my earthquakes half powered made my trunk rattle hard... fully powered u could be heard a block away if you wanted....

Ok ima give you my setup. Like i said it aint the shit but it gets the job done [erfectly for the price i payed.

10 inch sub in sealed box (~200RMS- ~400Peak) - $70
400 watt amp- Like $40 or $50 off of craigslist.
And a wiring kit the stereo shop VP hooked me up with. $30

I set off alarms too. Visonik sucks. You kno wat hit up Craz1000 he works at a stereo shop. He could probably pull some strings for you.

yeah, i'll admit. i'm a little biased now. but only cause i've learned the hard way. i'm only trying to help somebody bypass the crap and get something to actually be proud of.

my FIRST system had 2 10" paper coned subs with paper tweeters built into the box that was WAY too big for the setup. it was given to me by my neighbor for free. my amp was a Rockford from 1986, his senior year of highschool. i did have to give him $50 for that. i only sported it for a while so as not to make him feel bad.

by getting past the crap you won't look like a retard. and a good system can inspire you to do more. for a while now i've been thinking of making a custom fiberglass enclosure for my system.

i agree i do have to start somewhere, learn what way to go and eventually myself become biased. I'd love to start huge and pound but money won't let me as my thing is more looks, i love how a car looks but now as i drive it i'm getting bord with looks and now moving more into audio. So subs came up and i have no clue. when i bought my speakers i searched and studied for months in advance reading reviews learning factors and now summers here and i uss want the sub now lol. So if i get a good deal on something past the crap i'd do it for sure. It seems like its the amp that kills me.

i originally wanted the type r's from alpine but to get an amp for them i need to rob a bank lol. So now i've been told the 300 watt range is where to go so maybe i can look into something cheaper. maybe reference series or mtx i really have no clue whjo makes good subs. An audio stores around here are slim or are best buy and future shop.

youve gotten some good suggestions.. you need to figure out what you want.

here, my last suggestion..

MTX RT12X2A
Subwoofer enclosure with two 12" Road Thunder subwoofers
power handling: 100-400 watts RMS
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/ ... X2A&tp=112
$130 US

Profile HA700M
Mono subwoofer amplifier 350 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms
200 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/ ... 00M&tp=115
$100 US

total price $230 US + amp wiring kit

im not an expert on the whole impedance thing so im not sure if/how you can get that box/amp to be 350w@2ohm but that setup is just over your budget and will pound.

personally i dont like 2 subs in my trunk.. 1 12" takes up too much room for me.. but for the price youd have a good option right there.

you could maybe get a better amp for the same price or cheaper on ebay.. i just dont know of all these off brands and stuff... i strictly just looked at crutchfield for ideas and examples.

I think you cant really get any quality at that price range...but if you just want loud "bass-like" sounds, go to meijer and get some good ole' lightning audio.

see, again, that is subjective to your definition of quality. it may not compare to what you list in your signature but it will still sound good... goes back to product bias.

right now circuit city has a 2x12" MTX box and amp, 400w i think, for $250.. basically what i posted above just with a matched MTX amp and more expensive.. prolly not the same in canada though

whats the amp exactly?

easier to match a sub using the amps specs.. the 2ohm thing throws me off a little because pretty much all subs are 4 ohm, so 350w @ 2ohm might mean when it has 2 subs bridged... and you only are doing one
