Cat-back System + swaybar?
So i have been reading on magnaflow and other sites that their cat-back exhaust systems will not fit the 2gn neons with a swaybar installed, anyone disprove this or have seen one that works? How about the thermal R&D and other rear sections? I assume the r/t rear section will fit? btw, not lookin for srt-rear. Thx guys

go with the dynomax piping and make your own exhaust...it definatly clears the sway bar.......barely...
see my exhaust thread in the progress logs for pics of the clearance...

if you choose to use the morroso mufflers in the mid pipe: http://www.modernperformance.com/produc ... ts_id=1590
without the morroso's, all of the peices from jegs clamp together, you could install it yourself no problem...
from there, all you'de have to do is decide on a muffler, but a mandrel bend or two, and a tip
you could clamp everything(if you do, use good band clamps, not the cheap U-bolt clamps), but welding is always better...
only thing you'll have to cut with the pieces from jegs, is the mid pipe is meant for a first gen, so its got an extra bend you'de wanna cut off, which is easy if you have a sawzall...
if you were in PA instead of CA, i could get you hooked up on labor and help install it

That sounds cool no doubt, but one of my main concerns is volume, everyone has their own tastes when it comes to volume and describing it, and it is hard to tell from sound clips. My current setup is too loud for me even with 18" resonator. How loud is your setup, including in-cabin? (including the morroso's of course)

considering the fact that i'm currently running a side exit and no muffler besides the morroso's inline in the midpipe, its kinda loud outside, but inside isnt really bad...
if you want quiet, your going to have to use a chambered muffler in the rear, something like a flowmaster 50 suv series, or a muffler designed to greatly decrease sound levels. a turbo muffler wont do it, neither will any magnaflow since they're all straight thru designs for the most part...
any free flowing straight thru exhaust is going to be on the louder side, thats just the way it is unfortunatly...

To be more specific to anyone reading this thread, I am using a polisheduniversal magnaflow which is yes, straight through in design, plus it is a single walled and has two tips coming straight out. I am getting loud droning going up hills at a certain rpm range (3k to 4k). I am sure that systems that are actually made for the neon don't do this, but there is still the swaybar issue i am checking on.

I just thought of something, does anyone know that if a poorly bent pipe section, like for example the 45 degree bend that goes over the rear axle, would be able to cause sound waves to bounce around and cause the droning that I am getting or is that impossible? The reason i say poorly bent is because i had that section redone so that i could get the exhaust to come straight out from there and it wasnt mandrel bent, kinda looked lumpy. Just a thought.
