Tornado in IL

Post by TheRandom1 » Sat Jun 07, 2008 6:59 pm

Listening to the police scanner, here in Tinley Park, IL today.

The dispatcher just came across the scanner and informed us that a tornado ran through Manhattan IL and is heading right for us. Repeat, heading right for us.

A minute later, they came across and mentioned that all Tinley Park police department officers were ordered to go to their homes and get off the street.

And I'm here sitting on the third floor of my building staring outside through the patio door. Someone's a little paranoid, eh?

*edit* well I moved down to the garage so I could watch the storm progression a bit... and I added some pictures/videos of what we were getting here. Unfortunately the storm bypassed us, but hey, it was interesting nontheless!

lmk what you think of the pics/vids?

Good pics ......

Sean, I heard that there were SEVEN funnel clouds in Lake Co., either sighted or detected on Doppler Radar, Sunday evening !!

One of them just over the border, a couple of miles from our house.

There were tornado sirens going off to the north of me, and to the south of me..... but no sirens in Antioch.
It's still a little too close for comfort, though..... :(

Fortunately, there were no touchdowns that I know of.

Worst part was how it became eerily and spooky CALM before the tornados.
That's a bad sign.
