:withstupid:

There is a reason 2nd gen Neons have 5 lugs. Don't do it.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Yep, long story short...more studs = less chance for damage.

On the 1st gen Neons they were available with either 4 or 5 lug wheels. None of the performance models (i.e. Sport trim or better) came with 4 lugs, only 5. Starting in 2000 the cars became heavier and all of the drivetrain componants (axles, hubs, brakes, etc.) were made beefier. 4 lug hubs just wouldn't do the job reliably.

The other thing to remember is that your car is designed to use 5 lug wheels at a certain offset. To adapt the lugs, you would be using an adapter that is also a spacer (to give some room for the new stud heads to mount). Are the wheels you are getting a great deal on going to work well with the adapter spacer?

i was actually hoping to be able to swap out an older 4x100 from a previous neon. there is one for parts listed locally. the deals would have been worth it if that was possible. thanks for the input Danteneon.

pics dont mean anything spencersummerfield. i could easily find a shot of a 5 stud broken as well.

The problem with swapping the 1st gen stuff is that it wouldn't work :( As you now know the hubs and knuckles while simular in apearance are different in size and geometry.

Glad I could help...even though I dashed your hopes a bit

I don't think he's saying that 5 lugs don't have a risk of snapping either, I think he's mearly trying to say that 4 lugs run more of a risk of snapping.

Either way, have fun.

Hi dude its not how hard could be, its how safe it could be, i know that the coolest wheels are made for JDM cars like the Roja, Rays, etc... and its a pain to find nice brand wheels to fit our cars, but like the people say dont make your car fits you wheels make your wheels fits your car, installing adapters to your hub to make it 4 bolts, its reduce some offset to your wheels and its better keep your five bolts.
