Project DeathTrap!
1987 Shelby Charger
Well, I got this car for free! The previous owner is a friend of mine who has too many TDs(TurboDodges). He needed to get rid of this car and tried to sell it for a few months. With no interested buyers he offered me the car, the only stipulation being I didnt get rid of it!
The car is an '87 Shelby Charger with an '87 TII topend on a '85 bottom end. The car has an A555 Trans with cable shift conversion. He also converted to the KelseyHayes solid rear disk brakes vs the standard drums! The car is intercooled with a TII Daytona IC and also sports a MP GLHS Stage II Logic Module and Gvalve set at 14.7psi! The exhaust is still a mystery to me as Ive yet to get under it!

Satin Black spray paint an some used 225/50/15 Kumho Ecstas so I can accelerate in 2nd!!!

Hmmm, it seems your projects are getting more and more interesting
I sense the Omni will play into that car somehow as well

If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

The Mods Im doing are pretty much all gonna be between $0-$100 a piece.
Ive got enough scrap 3'' exhaust pipe laying around to do a full 3'' side exit. I also have an SRT4 IC layin around. Just need to fine some bigger injectors.
My main baby is my GLH! She is gonna be the one getting all the attention very soon...
Anyways, back to "DeathTrap"! Went hunting Thursday night looking for some meat. The first contestant I had was a 4door F250 Turbo Diesel. It was pretty quick but I lost 2nd and 4th gear due to a broke shifter cable! The F250 was blowin some serious black smoke! Definatelly wasnt stock. I did manage to start reeling him in in 3rd gear before I saw him let off. Oh well...
Oh and for some reasonI was only making 12psi!?

Well, I got to run a friends 5.0 last night! The 5.0 is nearly stock. Flowmasters and a Tremec 5spd with internal work(gear spacing is different than a stocker).
Since my shifter cable is halfway broke, I cant do a 1st-2nd shift under power or a 3rd-4th. We decided to do a 2nd-3rd run, That means hitting it about 35mph and "DeathTrap is at 95mph at the end of 3rd.
The horn on DeathTrap doesnt work so I was letting the 5.0 do the 3honks and go. He was about 1/4-1/2 a length ahead by the time he honked the 3rd time each run and I let him get a bit of a jump. I really thought he would need it. Till after the 1st run when I let off with only 1/2 a length on him at about 90mph! WTF!
The car was feeling kinda flat in 3rd gear for some reason. My brother in law was riding shotgun and said that the boost dropped after I shifted into 3rd! WTF! He said it dropped from like 12-13psi to just at 10psi! I believe the culprit to be the stock DSM BOV on my lower IC pipe! Oh well, we ran like 4 more times and it turned out about the same everytime, except I was pulling less and less each run. By the last run my boost was spiking to 12psi and holding just under 9psi and by 90mph the 5.0 had a 1/4 length on me!
He was feeling real good about the 5.0 till I told him I was only at about 60-75% of my normal boost. LOL!
He shoulda known something was wrong! His older brother has an '86 600ES(Kcar convertible) that I converted to a 5spd Intercooled TII setup. We used a Mitsu TEO4H(~Tiny) turbo, with a 3'' exhaust and MP comuter being the only power mods. Sittin at 15psi it would put a few lengths on the 5.0!
Well, Ive gotta get a good BOV(Im gonna steal the TurboXs Type H-RFL of the 600ES!) to stop my boost leak issue! And then get my 3''exhaust and SRT4 IC on then we will run again! Ive got 3 months though as he is goin to Basic Training!
It will definatelly be a different story next time.

Well, I finally got around to fixing a few things. The shifter cable finally snapped so I swapped in another one I had laying around. I pulled the lower IC hose and the crappy DSM BOV and retrimmed the hose to fit the TurboXs Type H-RFL BOV I stole off of my buddys 600ES. Oh, I also stole the 8mm Magnecore wires off of it too!
These mods made the car helluvalot better to drive. I was seeing 16psi again and had all my gears! Not to mention the BOV could wake the dead (RFL=Really F*kin Loud).
I tooled around all Saturday night and couldnt get anybody to mess with me. I dont know if its the Paint job or the BOV, but it really sucked. I wasnt too peeved though cuz I could spin from a roll in 2nd again! Oh well.
Then Sunday I head down to Fayetteville to see my buddy I got DeathTrap from. I didnt even get out of town before I started having running issues. No big deal, I threw in another MAP and away I went. Got down there just as he was finishing putting an A555 trans in his '87 CSX(#76 used to be mine).
Well we put DeathTrap up in the air real quick and popped on my 3'' side exit exhaust. In doing so my pal put a small hole in the NEW gas tank! It was seeping slowly so no big deal, right?
I backed her out and took her down a sidestreet real qwik. HOLY CRAP! Im getting my boost 500rpm sooner! Yaaaaaay. The car felt like a monster now! Definately know what the bottle neck was! 3'' FTW!
This is were it gets stupid. My pal suggests we do a nose to nose burnout wth the CSX and DeathTrap. And for some reason I said ok?! We nose up and start going through the gears! He left the CSX in 1st when I rowed up into 3rd! Before the smoke totally filled the car I was seeing tire speeds of 70mph! I suddenly couldnt see or breath! We shut down the cars and I jumped out choking on what was my Kumho Ecstas a few seconds earlier.
About 15 minutes later a firetruck showed up looking for a fire! LOL! We explained what happened and they laffed a bit then left.
Heres were it gets bad. I pop the hood on DeathTrap and notice oil all in the BOV. So I pulled the lower IC hose and sure enough, OIl and metal everywhere! Sunova...
Long story short, DeathTrap is sitting in Fayetteville waiting on a turbo that probally wont happen for at least a few months.
