My first-gen knowledge isn't up to par, but I don't think so. Close at least, but maybe not exact.

if its a 12.5g tank, why does the gas light come on so early? Mine would only take 9.2-9.4g when the light came on.

rotate your fuel pump counter clockwise and it won't come on so easy. I did that during my s3 install and i've never seen a Neon Gas Gauge so accurate.

Do what now? How much counter-clockwise, or is there only so far you can get the thing to go?

all depends on how far its off..

But i bet if you rotated it about an eighth to a quarter of an inch it would make a huge difference.

i usually drive another 50km after the gas light goes on, and it still hasn't started to flash yet, Which indicates a half gallon of gas remaining.
It says in your manual where the light comes on, i think at 3 gallons. The light then begins to blink and ding, when you are at a half gallon..

When i fill my car, the pump stops at around 40-42 litres, but i can still easily squeeze in another 5-6 litres of gas after that.. i would imagine if you filled it right up the filler kneck, it could hold 50 litres, lol.

I think a lot of ppl who think they get bad gas mileage in thier neon, Really just fill it back up too soon.. (like 1/4 tank) And honestly, you still have Tones of gas at 1/4 tank. The Other thing is, if you don't fill your tank to the top, you obviously will get worse mileage. Next time you get gas, Try filling it as full as possible, and then drive it until the fuel light flashes... Guarenteed you will see 500km+ on a tank of gas.

That's really not good. If you fill it up too much the petrol will be under pressure if it heats up and the gas expands. I'm pretty sure that's a fire hazard, and even if it's not it's NEVER recommended to fill past the point where the pump shuts itself off.

Filling up to the very top does not improve miles per gallon. Only miles per tank, which doesn't mean anything anyways.

Your car can't catch fire because the gas tank is too full.. Thats just crazytalk swordfish.

Racer, yea i know, but thats why i said miles to a tank, and not miles per gallon..
