need tire opinions

Post by NiteHawk » Wed Jun 18, 2008 10:14 pm

Ok. I'm getting a set of 17x7 Drag DR-12's. They're a 40mm offset.

BEFORE i buy tires, i want some opinions on WHICH tire to get...

I've had Kumho Ecsta ASX and i hated them, Hankook Ventus Sport K104's which were great in the rain, but wore out quickly, and i've had BFG gForce Sport's, which wore out fast and were that great in the rain....

Here's the other problem... I dont know what size to get either... I have SRT struts, and i WAS running 205/50's on stock srt wheels, and they BARELY cleared. According to the math, 225/45's are 1/10" SHORTER than the 205/50's, so the height isnt a problem. now what about the width...........can anyone tell me for sure that these will fit?

I may just end up buying a set of wheel spacers w/ long studs from modern to be 100% sure, but if they'll fit without them all the better, ya know?

OK, so lets hear some opinions!

bump, im gonna end up getting spacers w/ longer studs from modern anyways, just because i eventually want to go with SRT brakes and these wheels dont fit over the calipers without spacers...

they're out of stock for now, but ill throw the wheels and tires on the car then install the spacers when they're available again

I like my kumho ecsta spt...but you didn't like the asx so you probably dont want to try another kumho.

Maybe the Yoko S-Drive?

I plan on getting the falken azenis rt615 next it sounds like they would wear too fast for you (just comparing to the kdw2 and the hankook, as they have similar ratings)
