Damn Trunk

Post by jetas » Sun Jun 22, 2008 10:37 pm

Ok so i bought a new amp and as i was tuning it I heard how horrible the damn trunk rattles. So I used the handy search function and I saw a couple of people mention Peel & Seal from home improvement stores. I looked it up and its really cheap. But has anyone used it and does it work well for the rattling? Or are there any other kinds of sound deadeners that are as affordable and get the job done. Someone please chime in i want to get this taken care of ASAP. Thanks in advance guys

From the description it seems close to b-quiet or dynomat, but the Lowes around me don't carry it, so I can't exactly go look at it. I would think it would work fine tho. don't know what the cost is, but I'm sure it's cheaper than Dynomat, otherwise you wouldn't be sticking that stuff on your roof!
I'm kinda bummed now I can't seem to find it locally. Ghetto sound deadner FTW!

Yeah, the link works, but unless it is in store, they won't give a price. $15 is dirt cheap compared to the real stuff. And I'd bet the difference wouldn't be enough to matter to most of us!

well, if u live in place that gets really hot in the summers, there have been some people that have had it come off in the heat....be sure to apply it when it's hot or with a hair dryer and roll it on really good.

And for the heat...I live in cali. But trust me im going to apply it as careful as possible. I hate redoing shit.

You can also spray undercoating on the inside of your trunk. Its cheaper and easier and wont come off in the heat. You also save time by not cutting all the pieces. You can also seam seal the webbing on the trunk lid to get rid of the rattle.

Automotive seam sealer and try an auto parts store. I like 3M products the best, pricey but real good

Any autozone or pepboys or anything like that would have the rubberized undercoating, that is what I'm going to be using on my trunk when I get that far.

I think he means the webbing on the underside of the trunk lid. I've got the same trunk rattle and I'm looking for solutions as well.

I don't know what webbing you're talking about, unless you mean the actual structural pieces on the lid, and you don't want to remove those... otherwise your lid will flex like a beer can! I would just angle the can in there and spray a bit, should work.
