Wax too much?

Post by clancaster23 » Thu Jun 26, 2008 6:06 pm

Is it bad to wax a car too much? I probably put three coats on since the beginning of April when it warmed up. Having a black car, I like to keep the shine going. I probably wash it twice a week depending on weather and wax maybe once a month. Is this too much or no harm to the paint?

Well it's not going to harm the paint, but it might harm the clearcoat. But who knows. If your car loses it's shine after a month, find a better wax. Maybe, I dunno. I've waxed my car once this year and it still looks wet after she's nice and clean.

Well it's not that it loses it's shine, just maybe an "OCD" thing I have about wanting it to be at 100% at all times. I use Meguiar's Gold Class every time.

It won't harm anything. Wax wears off after time.

Megs gold class is ok, but doesnt last more than a couple of washes, so if you are washing it twice a week, the wax is gone in about a week.

It jjust sucks for durability, if you want to get real OCD about it, but don't really want to spend that much time on it......get yourself some Zaino Z5 with the ZFX accelerator........then put on about three coats, you should be good for 6-8 months.

Actually, there are several products you can use to keep it looking great year round........check out Autopia.org..........but, beware, it gets just as expensive as modding your car.
