Anyone takes this major? I plan to take this major this fall and I wonder if this job pays good? Difficult classes? If you finished it, what kinda job are you working as electrical position?

IM SO CURIOUS!

Ah yes... way back in ancient times I spent a year in Electronic Technology before discovering I enjoyed computers and switched programs.

Back then the first couple of years of both the Electronic and Electrical programs shared several common courses and lab work.

You need to be very comfortable with mathematics because most of it is that. Anything related to electricity is a good field to go into... from electrician to engineer.

The first job you get after graduating will be important in terms of the direction your career will go in and how quickly you will gain experience... important to have someone around to mentor you even it is only indirectly.

Well as far as math goes, engineering then yeah your going to need a heavy dose of calc and dif eq. For a tech job though, its mostly concepts understanding, you will need some math skills though.

I'm at an internship right now. Its really awesome to have some insight into your future career.

I'm in mechanical engineering, but a few roomates of mine were electrical. Pretty much the same deal as what most engineers do, lots and lots of math so you need to enjoy it, particularily simultaneous equations and calculus. Electricals use a lot of Laplace transforms as well. I can't remember what my first year roomate is doing, but my electrical roomate from last year is doing project management in Fort Mac (oil sands) Alberta. His wage and benefits are just stupid.
