Post by BIGSRTURBO » Sun Jul 06, 2008 12:20 pm

well i few weeks ago i ordered the mopar performance clutch for my 2001 ACR and all it really is...is a pt cruiser stock clutch nothing performance at all really not even a turbo pt clutch just a regular oll n/a pt clutch....so i said screw it i wanted to race that weekend so i put it in and after everything was said and done it all worked fine but at idle now it feels like i put solid motor mount inserts in or somthing...shakes bad at idle but runs fine everywhere else no shakes over 2k rpms....??? and thoughts on what that might be?

I believe it's somewhere in this thread: http://forum.2gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=26856

Something along the lines of the PT clutch (flywheel weight) being designed to cancel harmonic vibrations for the 2.4, so it may not effectively do so for the 2.0. Kind of a long shot, but it may be partly why it shakes more at lower rpms. If the weight is at a different distance from the crank centerline it will have some effect on the combustion pulses. Your PCM may just have to adjust to the difference, and it may smooth out in time. Or not.
When mine does wear out, I will prolly go the PT route.

Modern will tell you it is a PT clutch if you ask them and it is about the best price you will get on a real mopar PT clutch

The PT clutch was sold through mopar performance as a high performance clutch for the neon

The PT clutch is just about as strong as you need for a very agressive NA car or small turbo.

Did you put the allignment hat in the new clutch?
