Hey I didn't ask for em to come here and i personally think that if Clay Bennett wanted to be shady about aquiring an NBA team, he coulda done so to get a better team.....no offense.
Don't hate the city for the actions of one man. The NBA comittee didn't do much to stop this and neither did the City of Seattle, itself. You know, they had film crews there on the day of the settlement with Bennett, expecting there to be huge protests. Instead, all they saw were people waiting in line for a Barry Manilow concert.
There are a lot of people to blame here, Clay Bennett not being the least of which but instead, you guys should be concentrating on getting an entirely new franchise and bringing in new and undiscovered talent. And I don't mean moving an existing franchise - You need a new franchise created specifically for you. This could be a GOLDEN opportunity if you guys play your cards right.
As for Clay Bennett and his actions, I do not condone them. In spite of what his high priced attorneys say, there were some shady, underhanded dealings done on his and his associates' parts and I would have been all for this if it had been entirely above board. I'm betting that more of the players than not would rather have remained in Seattle rather than come to a city with the stereotypes (almost all untrue for the most part. There are a few exeptions) that we have been given. But come visit us. You'll find us to be friendly and kind, for the most part. there aren't too many palces left in this country where people will actually take turns at a stop sigh rather than run it and pray no one else does, too.
Just my views on the subject.
Oh, and yes, they are still YOUR Sonics. While the franchise will be coming to OKC, part of the settlement with the city of Seattle was that the franchise name and colors reamain with the City of Seattle. The franchise will be getting a new name and new team colors when it plays here next season.

And to the OP: Woot! My car is paid off next month too.
Man, the feeling is great! Now I can start setting aside money to mess with it a little more. It's in need of some TLC. LCA bushings, ball joints, motor mounts, wheels and tires (Mine are warped, damned steelies).

you make a very good point with it all and i pretty much agree with everything you say but a couple things.. one i was all for oklahoma city having an nba team. i just dont think clay should have done it the way he did.. like you said half way under the table. and the seattle support is there. trust me. i have been to many nba games in plenty of different arenas and seattle is not on the bottom of the list fan wise. we all just spent taxes on qwest field and safeco field. there wasnt alot left in the tank and clay new that and thats why he asked for a new arena. even if we granted his wish he would have still moved the team. the key arena was a very nice facility not anthing like staples center but there was nothing wrong with it. kevin durant jeff green.. westbrook they were all gonna sell plenty of tickets. we would have made a new arena in a couple of years.. it just hurts. lots of history there. although like you said we do keep our name and our colors. that helps i guess.. but its almost liek a slap in the face.. heres your name and colors were just taking all your 5 top ten draft picks from the last 4 years.. i wish all the former sonic players luck where there at now but the deal was done very fishy and there are alot of people that would like to get face to face with bennet. i want to start over completely too but there are already talks of buying another franchise which sucks because then were just as bad as bennet.. but i guess its all a business in the end.
good luck with modding on the neon though. ever have any questions about it let me know.

I been doin a lot of homework on my Yawn so i shouldn't need too much help but I'll shoot ya a PM if I need some help.
As far as the NBA goes - If bennett knew about the other money spent then it makes it that much worse because not only was he shady about the deal but so was the press around here (big surprise there) because they never said a word one about all the tax money spent by the people of Seattle. Like i said, it should have been handled differently. I'm a firm believer in getting out of life what you put into it and if we start screwing other cities over to get what they have, we're gonna get screwed.
Oh, and if your city learns from what Bennett pulled and does the deal properly - laying all the cards on the table from jump street and not passing back and forth under the table - then you're not "Just like Bennett". People like that always get what's coming to them. Just look and Enron and Worldcom. I would agree with the slap in the face analogy. it would seem to me the Seattle did all the hard work in getting the Sonics established as a team and then bennett comes in and scoops 'em up and runs with 'em. I dunno. I'm not the biggest fan of where i live anyways and this just leaves that much more of a bitter taste.

Congrats on getting her paid off, car payments FTL!!!!
As for our taxes... yeah, we have some of the highest sales taxes in the country, 9.8% in Seattle.

Hasken_yo - Those taxes are outrageous! Don't take this the wrong way but 9.8% and they couldn't build the arena?! I think maybe the High muckety-mucks up there might not be doing everything right with the budget. You might wanna look into where that money is goin. I'd be a lil suspiscious were I a seattle resident.
But TY on the grats.
You, too, FuzzyNeon.
