Damn Dealership

Post by GreeNeons03 » Tue Jul 15, 2008 1:51 am

The people at my local dealership are dumb-asses. I brought my car in at 7:30 this morning for what I though was a transmission problem. I take the courtesy van home and go to sleep. After I wake up, I realize it's 1:00 PM, later than I thought, and I haven't heard anything about my car. So I call the dealership and the guy said it turned out to be the transmission mount and motor mounts. I say, OK fix it. He goes on to say that it may take a while that I may not have the car back by the end of the day. I'm thinking, "bull shit" but I tell him to do one and I'll bring it back for the other because I need the car for work. He says they may be able to to both by the end of the day, I tell him that would be awesome.

Well a few more hours go by and I haven't heard anything. I call back and THEIR STILL WORKING ON THE DAMN MOUNTS!! and the dealer ship closes in a less than an hour.

Long story short, I still don't have my car. I'm going to have to drop my Mom off at work and take her DAMN MINI VAN to work tomorrow and she's going to take the courtesy van back to the dealer ship to pick up my car tomorrow.

Now what really bothers me is that they had the car ALL DAMN DAY and they couldn't change the mounts in what should just take a few hours. I've had the engine mounts replaced before so I know that doesn't take long, but I've never had the transmission mount replace, but I assume it doesn't take that long either.

I wish I had my own tools and the space, I would have replaced everything myself. Hopefully they'll take some $$ off my bill due to severe inconvenience.

I don't know. But they had my car off the service drive in the back already before I left the dealership.

just because they took your car in the back doesn't mean they started working on it.

The trans mount isnt the easiest thing in the world to get to, either. It takes an hour or more on its own, and thats if you really care about getting it done quickly, which a service tech doesn't always do.

Plus, your needs aren't really important to a dealership service department. If you never go back tothem, they won't care.

And you're not getting a discount forinconvenience. They told you it might take more than a day, and you said ok.

The transmission mount is a HUGE bitch. Even with the proper tools from start to finish it's atleast a 2 hour job

It took me 6 hours, but that's because i'm an idiot and I always hav eto do my shit alone

i did my trans mount in under an hour and motor mounts in about 45 minutes (i was installing inserts in all 3).....

techs work based on the labor time the book gives them.....so its ALWAYS beneficial to them to work fast so that way they can get more jobs in, basically, fitting a 10-12hour day into 8hours......
