Intercooler Piping Fitment

Post by shinta86 » Mon Jul 21, 2008 10:58 pm

So I got the intercooler mounted but there is a slight issue, as you can see below. Now I don't have the upper and lower motor mounts in yet. Will that fix it? The intercooler is almost perfectly centered too.

Get the engine mounted before you do anything else. The pipe should fit fine.

So I mounted the engine and same problem, it hits the AC motor, just a little more room. I could get a longer coupler but then a hole still might be rubbed in it. I can't off center the fmic since the pcm bracket would be in the way. I don't want to cut the frame but I might have to. Please help.

wow that is tight. it should be close but nothing like what you have. the only thing i can say is try to use an oem hot side pipe and i hope it clears. are you using the srt compressor? i know when i mounted my i/c it was centered and all the way against the bottom of the metal bumper support... where is yours up to down? i know you said you have it centered but if it is too high for some reason that could explain some of it.

one more dumb question and i hate to ask... but are you sure you have the i/c mounted correctly? the oval side should be on the passenger side of the engine bay.

Mine is an aftermarket fmic and I am pretty sure that it is mounted correctly. It was touching the bottom support before I unbolted it to put the coupler on. I don't have the oem hot side pipe either nor do I know if it is the srt compressor since it came with the engine.
