BFMIC

Should I get it?

OH yeah, I can get it for $170 shipped used off the boards. I searched SRTforums and it seems to be a good intercooler. Should I go for it? I am running 15-16lbs of boost with mods listed in garage. I think it will make the front end look pretty bad ass. But if I lose performance I am not going to get it.

Sure it might look cool, but I would stick with something I know works.

I highly doubt it will outperform the stock intercooler at 16psi on stock turbo.

I hear mixed emotions about a BFMIC on the stock turbo. I might have to be the test bunny and get my car dynod before and after. Thats the only way to really know. The thing that is good about itnercoolers is that if I don't notice any gains or I lose power, I can always take it off and sell it for around the same price.

Someones got to do it.

What are your overall goals for the car anyway?

Not really sure at this point. I plan on paying it off next month. I owe $3100 and I am just going to pay it off so I don't have to worry about interest. After that I am not sure... But I know what you are getting at though. If I plan to go big turbo then a BFMIC is a must. I am not really sure where I am headed with the car performance wise. Everything pretty much pops up when I get stuff for it.

Well yeah, big turbo definitely. I know also that the 300whp route calls for a better IC if you're going that way.

what about the direct fit quick fit intercooler from quickwhips? its a little bit thicker but about the same height and width.

I miss my neon at times. She treated me well and taught me a lot about cars in general. I will always have a special place in my heart for these cars. Heres to the 2gn community.

the direct fits I've seen cost almost as much as a bfmic. The stocker flows well enough to support s3, there are much better things imo to spend $3-500 on if you're not running a big turbo.

I personally wouldn't run a bfmic even with big turbo unless I had a huge square steel aftermarket crash bar.
