does you significant other....

Post by theTeejmiester » Wed Jul 23, 2008 4:04 pm

not apprecate your car/hobby like you do??
it gets annoying when just today comming back from the store she is tapping her bracelet against the paint on the side of the car,and when i asked her not to do it she gets all pissed off"its just a fucking car" is what i hear everytime she scratches or dings it.and will not listen to me when i try to explain ways to not do things like run her rings over the trunk lid when it opens ect.i always get the"your car means more to you than me" or "why dont you go fuck your car if its so important" grrr.just dont get it.its getting so annoying.when we first started dating her cars were always dirty/scratched inside and out with very little maintence done to them so i guess its what she is used to but after 3 years with me i was hoping it would stop

oh well end of rant :banghead:

Think just being on it is bad, imagine owning it and explaining that to a girl you've met. It's hard putting a spin on that to not make it sound very pathetic

I told my girl before I started dating her.

"I am going to spend ALOT of time, money, and put ALOT of work into this thing. If you don't respect it or my pride in it I will not respect you and your ass will be gone faster than I can reach 60mph."

She has still come out with the "Your car is more important isn't it". But I just give her that look that says "STFU I am not goin to take it" And that keeps her quiet lol.

Shes a keeper.

lol sometimes i think my gf likes my neon more than me, she enjoys driving more than i do (because i drive it everyday and its an 2.0 ATX, nothing special) and she doesnt scratch it or anything like that
however she gets really irritated when i surf the site too much
i have to look at it before she gets home from work, i feel like im 16 years old again looking at porn when no ones around lol
and she gets mad when we go to shows and i dont pay attention to her or include her in stuff, but she doesnt mind me always being broke cuz i spend all my money on the car, and she even buys me car parts and gives me ideas of what she thinks would look cool (even if i dont listen to them)

Here is the plan...

Stop all car activity for a while. Start lounging on the couch in your underwear with the beer & favorite snack of choice. Toss the empties and other trash over your shoulder. Create a nice pile around the couch... refuse to pick it up.

If she complains tell her you decided to give up on your hobby and are currently thinking about other options. After a few days of that she will beg you to go back to your hobby.

Wow. I thought I had it bad. Here's a spin from the other side of the coin just to let you guys in on it. Not all guys are like those on here, most have no fucking idea what the hell a main bearing cap is or where it goes. No idea about torque specs, how to change their oil etc. Frankly some men can be just as bad as women.

My ex from back in 02....he was the kicker. I bought him a FULL system for his car, underbodies (he wanted them), tailights, etc. He had a 2g DSM. I installed ALL of this btw. What does he buy me for XMAS? A fucking purse. Hmmmm bad sign, I am not a person to care about fashion, purses, makeup, etc. That wasn't the icing on the cake though. He told me women shouldn't know anything about cars, and I was ridiculous and so on and so forth. I was kind of insulted by the chauvinist behavior and his jealousy since he didn't know a lug nut from a wing nut. Then one day he said:

"You love your car more than you love me"

"Damn straight it was here before you and it'll be here after you, so SCREW."

That there ended that relationship. Since then I've gone on a couple of dates w/people that just didn't understand my passion for the hobby at all. If they can't understand it then I can't be with the person. I have it just as bad as you guys. I WOULD NEVER say "Oh its just a car" or "You love it more than me" or any of that bullshit. I would help you mod it (if you help me LOL). Help you install things, etc. Your XMAS presents would be for the car (I'm the same way with my close friends). And I LOVE car shows.

Men who are ignorant to the car world are just as bad as women with no friggin clue. This isn't to say all the guys I've dated were like this. I dated a master tech, he was cool about it, a master autobody guy he was cool too, and another guy who was a combo of both and great at what he did. Those didn't work out (short lived) because of the way they were not because of my hobby. You kinda have to find someone into it as much as you are. For a chick finding a guy thats into it is MUCH easier than a guy trying to find a chick into it.

Most broads say "OMG like I LOVE cars!" And have no clue in the world.....

Oh yeah....fucking get rid of her, she's jealous of a vehicle? She needs mental help.

Sorry I babble.[/b]

Lets see a previous significant other was very thrilled when she bought the 1 miata that I told her not to :cussing: A word to everybody on here DO NOT EVER do a miata engine swap even something simple (1.8 replacement engine) this is a warning to people with human sized hands. Rich parents make everything better

Other than that nothing too bad my current girl who is a friend (she is very adamant about the fact that we arent dating) thinks they are "cute" and loves how I talk about them as if they were my kids
All I want is someone to curl up on the couch with and watch F1 is that really too much to ask

Ok, so some say I'm lucky because my wife is just as into cars as me. HOWEVER, it is a double edge sword. As opposed to hearing, "you love the car more then me," I hear, "if you buy that I'm buying this!" Mods are now twice as expensive!!

Scratch and ding the shit out of her car and when she bitches say, It's just a car.

Anyways, my fiance can't wait for me to get the monte back on the road. She wants me to do everything I can to have it ready for our wedding (May 2009) so that we can drive it in the wedding.

Chris, I have a thing. O you bought $xxx in clothes/shit/etc, then I'm buying this.

Yeah, but mine is me saying I'm buying exhaust/nav/spoiler/etc. and hearing, "that's fine, but I'm buying nav/lift/tires/etc." For every mod I buy she buys one!

I'll be 23 in a few months. Six years ago I was 17. I don't understand the point, I'm confused? My only purpose to that statement was I haven't had a "boyfriend" (god I hate that term) since I was 17.

My chick is cool. Her brother has a 400whp SRT...so she's familar with the cars and wants an SRT of her own. If we stay together a while she will probably take my car when I get my 2-seater-whatever-it-may-be.
