HELP! P0107 code/limp-mode/bucking after swapping to MTX

Post by bdmski » Wed Jul 23, 2008 11:58 pm

Please see last post for latest situation

Finally got the swap done, the mtx computer is in too and the car starts! There is no limiter at all (can go past 6000) for only a few minutes, then a 4000 rev limit kicks in. Its not the kind that just bounces off either. Feels like there is no fuel going through and the whole car shutters. The guy at dodge said its goes into some kind of safe mode or something.

Also, my speedo doesn't work, and I have to find a new way to hook up my reverse plug for the back up lights.

My main concern is disabling the rev limiter. Can someone help me out? I really don't want to have to buy a mtx wiring harness. There must be an easier way around it.

I'm getting a code: P00107 too

You're going into limp mode. I have been through that although I had a different code. Mine involved the cam magnet your P0107 has something to do with your MAP sensor.

You may want to check and see if the map sensor has come unplugged. It is on the passenger side of the intake manifold, right near the thermostat housing. If its unplugged or faulty, you will see issues..

That threw me till I figured out you were posting under his screen name! :owned:

OK on the ATX the speed sensor is tied into the gear sense circuit, which tells the PCM that it is in neutral or in gear. If the speedo isn't working possibly the MTX pcm also thinks that the car is free revving, and shuts down. I think once the speedo wire is connected to the passenger side axle housing sender and a signal is sent to the PCM that tha car is moving it may run fine. Just a theory at this point tho.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've been sending him your replies through the mail.

It sucks though cause it takes 5 days to get from Vegas to Alabama, where he is.

OD, sorry for confusing you :/

Well I'm back from Alabama everyone and can finally use the internet.

Well took the car to dodge and they got my speedo working again. Unfortunately the other problem still continues. As soon as you step on it and get into 5000-6000 rpm range and have some fun with it, the car starts to "buck" wildly when ever over 3000 rpm. A P0107 map sensor code turns on as soon as the "bucking" begins. I believe this is called "limp" mode. This continues until you restart the car.

Just some good news. For some reason the check engine light turned off and hasn't come on all day. Hopefully it stays that way! :D Looks like everything works now.

Possibly the MAP wiring has a break in it or the sensor it self is wacked. I would think that w/out the proper MAP input that is the cause of the RPM problem. The pcm has no clue what pulse width to send to the injectors. Hopefully it fixed it's self!
Edit: double check all your vacuum hoses/bellows for leaks also. Vacuum leaks shouldn't be as big of a problem at higher RPM's as the throttle is likely open more so than lower RPM's but it wouldn't hurt to check.
