Project off topic pt 2 1995 Plymouth neon Sport

About a week after I got it. Known problems:
3 blown struts
4 "brand new" tires (the stealership was very sure of this even after I pointed out the plugs to them)
A few dents and most of the paint was falling off
Battery was bad (OE battery)
Starter was on its last legs
No shifter bushings with washers welded over the cable ends
Mystery stains all over the carpet
The radio worked when it wanted to
A/C didnt work
Very large coolant leak
AutoZone "help" section push in drain plug

1 trip to the junkyard got the cooling system back in check I changed everything so not quite sure what it was. While I was in there the ac stuff went away. The old battery and 1gn starter from the acr went on. Ordered a set of lime green boogers which got here in less than a month (very good compared to the JLMs)

So I took my nice new polished turd to a tech day and it was all going well until we got there and the guy had spent all his money on a bunch of scrap metal (seriously hurt pistons and rods) a warped head and a crane 10. As we were leaving I had metioned the brokeness of my car and about 15min later it was sitting in a field (return spring on the right rear drum broke and brake locked)
My wonderful friends took plenaty of pics. The car was fine less the bent wheel and broken brakes

After I got home I decided it was time to put a real supension under the car this is what I came up with
Koni's
High Rates
Sport rear bar
Touring front bar
5-lug hubs and brakes

I should point out that I had all of these suspension parts around here

After the swap:

Now it was time to do something for some power:
3.0 intake
Flowmaster 40 muffler($4.50 from the junkyard)
Pacesetter STH($2.50 from the junkyard)
Atx TB (that is between us as it takes the car out of STS)

By now I wanted to at least try to make it look decent so I threw some stripes on it:

^ It goes a million (it was a .org thing dont ask)

Image
First park city event. First time the car was really pushed and it is ok still trying to feel out the new suspension and tires 61.xxx 8th in STS

Image
Second park city event. Lowered front pressures 60.452 on a slower course

Image
Farm show from this weekend 71.615 8th in STS
Suspension settings:
Konis full stiff all around
42psi front
44psi rear
-1.5camber front
-0.5 camber rear
1/8" toe out

Future:
Mopar PCM
205/50/15 toyo R1R
acr front bar
ST rear bar
x-highs on revalved koni's
Sparco evo III drivers seat (I'm fat I need the III)
UDP
2.5" side exit (save some weight)
Poly bushings
Hawk HPS
Stainless lines
Power steering cooler

You guys would be so proud of me I did my first purely cosmetic mods today:
Rub strips off the doors
00-02 steering wheel
I changed the PS fluid as well.

Forgive the "JDM" angles here my friend took the pics:

So what do you guys think:
Stripes or not? Before I spend the cash ($75 a side) to get real ones cut do they look decent?

Not feeling the stripes, sorry. But your car is coming along pretty well

I did not know that. Yay class project! So, are you going to let your fellow classmates get their hands on him?

Couple friends are helping. One of them drove it the day it blew, before we all hop on the make him pay for it bandwagon I should point out that it has been leaking since I got it. It never hit me that a coolant and oil leak would come from the hg with out any mixing.
Oh and a 1988 Honda Accord is by far the worst car I have ever driven but its better than the bus.

Yep, the 1st gen HG's (especially the non-MLS ones) would leak so bad sometimes you would think there was no VC gasket in there and you had a heater hose leaking all at once.

Yeah this one was done with an MLS right as the TSB came out. T-belt looked almost new the tensioner was hurting though. The cylinders looked great for 155k. This car is going to become less and less of my daily driver and more of a nationaly competitive(I hope) STS car. Just need to the acr swap so I can run a 3.94. Did acrs come in emereld?

It runs rather well now way more power (I know the UDP helped with that) and on a related note I have pedal feel in the brakes. I love not having to slow down for corners anymore it took a while to remember what not-understeer felt like

DOHC swap is not going well. One of the kids who was helping me broke the CPS off in the old block. The stock wiring harness has been hacked together by somebody else I think I have everything right though.

Got some used 225/50/15 Kumho V710s from Mark going on 15x8 Diamond racing challenger wheels. As well as a set of Koni yellows and high rates for the impressive sum of $0.00, coilover+big tire pics comming soon.

Swap is just about done I have some little stuff to finish up should have running pics tomorrow. He found the konis were fine after he pulled them and backed out of the deal, I am waiting to get my stuff back. I found a set of the mopar mudflaps in the junkyard(along with the depos) so mudflap dragging pics coming once I get the coilovers done. I might just take my konis off for the winter and put the high rates on the stock struts.

I FUCKING LOVE DRIVING THIS CAR!!!!!

In retrospect I should have hooked up the PS but what are you going to do. It drives like a honda, always revving, always shifting, always busy DOHC mated to a 3.55 FTL

Working on a video right now.

I also need/want it to be a coupe.

And by cheap, I mean damn near free (100 bucks or less is all I have right now lol)

Coupes are over rated, heaver, softer, and more expensive. That being said Cliff Sebring got his NYG ATX coupe for $100, drove it from Virgina to Maryland the same day.
