I went to a salvage place and the guy said he could get me a complete swap for $3k. I do'nt have the tools or knowledge to do it. I've heard of places doing the labor for $1,000, and other really good shops say $2,000.

The swap looks like a LOT of bullshit but IDK, if you already sunk a lot of money into your neon and plan to keep it a while you can probably fair off well like I *might*

i paid $3500 for the car. sunk $1k in cosmetics. another 5k in srt shit and i'll have a....10k sinkhole!

All depends on how many parts you have to buy or how good of condition the donor car is that you buy. There is no off the shelf price in doing this. You might buy a donor car for $3,000 but after inspection find a ton wrong with the engine from the wreck or how it was treated by the previous owner and spend $2,000 to fix it.

I just bought my donor car for 3k and i'll prabably be spending about another 1k On general maintenace parts to do while the motor is out. Besides that if you do it yourself it wont be that much. The reason I went for a donor car is so that I know i have everything I need and not have to worry If there was a harnest missing or something.
