Tire Sizes for 2001 Neon RT

Post by beachbrum » Thu Aug 07, 2008 11:51 pm

Hello all....going to be making a trip to Les Schwab here soon to replace my tires. I currently have Toyo Proxes 4's size 205/50R16 on the stock 16 inch rims and got 40K out of them. Great tires especially in our wet winters.

Anyhow, I like the 205/50R16 size over the stock 195/50R16 size for sure as it fills up the wheel well better. But what other sizes work on the stock RT 16 inch rim without rubbing and what are the pro's and con's of the different sizes.

Thanks for everyone's help.

I run the 205/50/16 on my rims without problems also, much better selection than the stock size, and looks much better.........

I don't think you have many options on stock rims..the factor being that the rim is 6" wide. anything more than 205 tire width and you might have issues with tire safety and performance....

I think you should stick with the 205/50 ratio, if you go with aftermarket-wider rims then that is a different issue all together, and you have way more options ...

maybe other people could have other opinions about this...

good luck

:withstupid: With the 50 series tire, you are at the limit of safety on that 6" wide wheel. Any lower aspect ratio would make the 205 unusable (safely). Any taller and you start having sidewall deflection issues that affect spirited handling. Plus giving it the 4x4 look
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...
