hey is it possible to swap the ngc four spd auto out of my 04 sxt and replace it with a non-ngc 3spd auto and computer?

not sure about the transmission, but as far as the pcm: no, you won't be able to.

It is possible if you have a donor car to swap the entire wire harness from. A 2000/2001 ATX or 2000-2002 MTX would work, but if the 2000 was used in either case the IAC would need to be adapted to your TB.(Modern Performance) Not sure, but the gauge cluster may also need to be swapped to pre NGC also. You would want a car with out SKIM to make life more plug and play. But is it worth the hassle?
Edit: It would also never pass emmisions check, and from the EPA standpoint would violate federal emissions laws, unless you were using the car for offroad use only.
Edit Again: You would also need to swap engine block/cranks. (NGC crank sensor) but it is still possible.

Hmmm. Since the 3sp trans doesn't use a computer to control it, you could do the swap. But your stock computer would be very confused not having the 4sp in there. I don't know what would happen if you used the original computer.

sorry guys, I thought he was asking if the computer would come out of a 2000 and go into a 2004. I told him no thinking that he wouldn't swap out the wiring harness... I never thought of that...

No speedo, plus all kinds of transmission fault codes!

It would be the same dilema as swapping the MTX into NGC ATX cars. Possibly an MTX NGC pcm might do it but the cost would be up there. As well as getting the wiring right so the VSS (speed sensor) communicates.

So, short of doing a complete swap with a MTX car, your options are limited
