Why is my car SMOKING????

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Post by white-lightning » Mon Aug 18, 2008 11:41 pm

ok my car ever since i installed the turbo my car it has been leaking very little oil thru the valve cover brether and pcv valve along with white smoke. I was told that the oil would sit in the head for too long and the oil would burn up in their so they told me to make the drain holes bigger?? Is this true is their any other solution on how to get rid of this??

did you do an srt swap or did you just put a turbo on your acr?

do you have some sort of fuel management? because I'm guessing your car is also sputtering and not running well?

Do you have a catch can?

Is your engine built for a turbo, or did you just slap it on there? Could be a burnt piston ring. Have you done a compression check and leak down test?

Are you sure it's oil burning and not coolant?

The magnum motors are prone to this. Due to the enlarged exhaust ports the oil drain back lines where made smaller which doesn't allow the oil to drail back down to the crankcase fast enough. That causes oil to pool in the head and be shot out hte breather or PCV while cornering and the oil shifts to either side of the head. The solution has been said to install an oil restrictor in the head between the block and head to prevent as much oil going to the head causing it to pool.
