Hanging Idle

Post by neonsxt0486 » Tue Aug 19, 2008 1:20 pm

Quick question, what could be the cause of a hanging idle? Every now and then coming to a stop when I press in the clutch the tach will hang around 2500 and slowly come down. It's just started being noticible recently.

it's pretty normal on my car. people have talked about it but some don't like it and say it is a problem. mine has done it for as long as i can remember.

also, this should go in the engine section.

Mine does the same thing, but I don't mind. It actually makes for a smoother shift most of the time.

After watching my tach, mine hangs just at 1500 rpms when coming to a stop. I thought it was higher. I'm not sure what is normal with the neons anymore, there always seems to be a new "normal" problem every week.

This thread might give you some insight to the problem. What fixed mine was replacing my intake manifold. I really think the o-ring gaskets were a cause of the leak.
