if all you want is a 205/50, why not get a 6 or 7" wheel?

because it is extreme overkill for a 205/50 sized tire.

even 225/45's fit on 7" wide wheels.

i'm just thinking wouldnt it be cheaper to buy 16x6 or 16x7

that should work well and give you plenty of room for upgrading.

40mm offset should work for that

Unless you are planning on getting a wider tire, an 8" wheel is too wide, especially if you are only going to run a 205. And remember, a narrower wheel is a lighter wheel.

16X8 with an offset of +48 will definately rub on the interior, 205/50's on an 8 inch rim would have descent stretch but you would have to go with something more in the +30 offset range. I have a set of 16X9's that had 205/40's...now that is border line dangerous!
