Questions about axles, transmissions, differentials, pretty much anything that connects the engine to the wheels, this is the place for those questions.

2000 clutch pedal/ hydralic pedal

Post by soul_sword34 » Thu Aug 21, 2008 3:28 pm

Okay I've been doing tons of research and believe me when I say no one as of yet knows the answer. Looking through the 2000 parts manual and an '01-'02 manual it appears the clutch/brake assembly's look the same. I already have the 2000 assembly in place. Will the clutch pedal connect to a hydraulic setup? What is the difference. Yes I know the cable/hydraulic change but it appears as if the pedal is the same. Pic of how a hydro hooks up to the pedal would be appreciated.

To better illustrate. Straight out of the parts manual. Ignoring the part numbers so far because we all know that those change all the time. Pics are simular and it seems thte 2000 is the same as all clutch/brake assemblies.

I was looking at the same thing

The part # for the 2000 is unique. The '99 is the same to '95 (and the JA bodies as well) and the '01 Neon is the same up to '05 (and is the same as the PT as well)

Without comparing them side by side I couldn't tell you if the later style clutch will connect to the 2000 pedal. My gut tells me no :(
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

I just totaled how much it is going to cost me just to swap out the hydraulic bellhousing and it is going to cost me over $300 just to swap a bellhousing to cable clutch. :cussing: This is including the output bearing at $37.00 and the input shaft bearing at over $45.00, misc other parts, 12 ring gear bolts, cone bearings and races, speedo pinion & drive gear, 4 shift rail bushings, inch lb torque wrench & micrometer for end play adjustment, and more, etc. I have an '01 R/T 3.94 hydraulic sitting in my garage with all the swap parts for a cable clutch. Was throwing around the idea of swapping to a hydro and save some money. That way I won't have to mess with the bellhousing swap. Just need to know about the pedals I already have.

If you have the trans already, simply yank the clutch/brake pedal assembly (with the bracket) from a '01-'05. The mounting points should be the same. Then you just need to modify your firewall

True but no sense in doing that if they clutch/brake assemblies are the same. Looking for a write up on the hydro clutch install. Should be the same as an SRT swap I think.
