Need opinions. Be honest too. Pardon the dust on the car as we just had a hella wind blow through. Figures right after my install for the photoshoot.

Made em myself. I just masked the area off. Sanded with 600 grit. Sprayed a couple coats of Duplicolor Adhesion Promoter and then Duplicolor PG8 to match. Top off with some Duplicolor clear and finish. It's really important to follow the instructions on the can. I didn't and fugged one up but fixed it later. Time to let the coats flash is key. Spray light.

Good choice on the bumper. Sexiest bumper ever available on a Neon, IMHO. Of course, I'm biased

It looks terribly blotchy, the metallic/pearl is clumped in some places, scarce in others, and the clear coat doesn't match the OEM gloss at all. Its too dull.

Not half bad for a DIY job....

 Most of what you see is dust from the storm. Also it's not entirely done. Still need to buff and wax. Looks 100% better with no dirt on it. I'll post up better ones as soon as I finish it.

Keep the comments coming if you have any. Good and bad. What do you see? Also just a comment of my own. Has anyone ever noticed that a camera pics up imperfections your eye alone cannot see? Lol, looks different in person though. Oh well.

it looks awesome compared to my bumper. I think that it looks good, I don't see anything wrong with it. lol but this is coming from me, while the blotchy comment came from an expert painter like crystal.

That bumper and grill look really familiar, I just can't remember where they are from

Good to see that you FINALLY painted and installed that damn thing! What has it been, well over a year or two now?

Looks good. I loved that bumper, but plans change.

I have a set of Black Housing Projector Headlights. They run around $140 shipped from ebay, or around $200 from modernperformance. They really improve the look on neons! You get a choice of either black or chrome housing. Black is better to me.

Yeah man it's been a while almost 2 1/2 years. No worries man the paint is coming along right. Good to see you still around.

Yeah I'm throwin around the idea of getting some. Would be The Darkness!! I just don't like how chromey the turns look.

Update on how the paint is turning out. So I was out in the garage being sneaky and playing with the paint. Not supposed to be playing with the car cuz my wife is getting a hose up her butt about family time, shooting my pistol, drinking beer, etc. Anyways while she was busy I went out with some 1500 grit + compound and my buffer. Did one spot for about 10 minutes checking light etc. Still looked wavy and dull. I looked closer and I see what appears to be orange peel, me not being a pro painter by far took a gamble and hit it with some more 1500 grit wetsand paper, carefully, sanding/wiping until it was smooth. Hit it with the compound again for like a minute and BLAM!!! Hit it with a light and I could seriously see my pupils dialate. So I'm back to sanding the whole bumper, carefully, hopefully 1500 grit won't go through the clear. Won't happen though until the wife goes back to work! :banghead: Give me a week. Shhhh, don't tell anyone.

Okay here it is. Some before and after shots and a final video walkaround. After final wetsanding and some rubbing compound. Still needs a little more compound and can't do any wax for another 3 weeks but you get the idea. Yes this is a DIY job. Somehow it came out better than my factory paint job. Go figure. Also note the rest of the car is dirty as hell.

just to remind you the clear is not going to last very long,it has no uv protection and being a 1k moisture dry product it has a very high solvent content that makes it very fragile.but it does not look bad after being buffed out.i am not saying that a rattle can job can not be done but when you have to repaint, and you will after a few months try using the spraymax 2k primer and clear.it is solvent and UV resistant and holds up much better than the duplicolor clear ever will.plus you can cut and buff within 24 hours and it will not fade and dull like the duplicolor stuff does.just a heads up on ideas

Thanks where can a guy find this Spraymax clear? Went this route because I grew up with 5-10K paint jobs and I always hated the anxiety of leaving it parked. Also when someone dents or scrapes it. This way it's cheap to repair, $5, looks good enough for the track and it helped me clear the garage out. Seriously though I have repair spots on my car using the same stuff and still no fade or chips after 2 years. Those areas were coated using a UV synthetic glaze though so I think that really helps.

yeah glaze does probly help.i always use some sort of uv protectant over my paint just to cut down on the chance of fading.the spraymax clears and primers can be ordered online.

http://www.autobodytoolmart.com/pc-1452 ... rcoat.aspx

there is one place to get it from.or you could check your local jobbers and see if they carry it.i have never been able to find it other than online so i dont know what the odds are.another pretty good clear that i have heard alot about but have not used myself is the Upol #1 clear, lilsparkplug swears on the stuff so its gotta be some good stuff.and being a pre mixed 1k product is that it does not have the 12-24 hour shelf life of the spraymax that is mixed in the can then sprayed before it sets.

http://yhst-13811118617756.stores.yahoo ... reclc.html

and it is slightly cheaper so it may be what ya want.but like i said its just options when ya have to do it again.hope you found it helpfull
