Getting "rumble sound" from sub/amp?
My amp/sub system seems to be getting a "rumbling" sound lately. I don't know how to fully describe it, but you could say it's rogue noise. You can hear it when I'm switching folders or tracks on my headunit mainly, and now recently the noise is also there during songs. Basically like the sub is getting some "signal" (waveform, whatever you want to call it?) to move, but not the actual audio signal. It sounds like distant rumbling thunder. I've had this system for about 3 years no with no problems. I double checked all the wiring and it's in good order. I dont know why this noise is coming recently. Could it be that the amp or headunit is going bad?

check all the ground...make sure RCAs are plugged , & that all the wires arnt pinched or touching metal. my van used to do that also when i had a rear battery installed & it was b/c the ground was loose.
Also make sure your ground goes to bare metal.

Pioneer decks have a tendency to get engine whine/noise through the RCA outputs, b/c of a bad ground solder in the deck itself.
Heres a way to fix it

its the cables not the headunit but check bothdanman132x wrote:I might have to check the RCA's then. I double checked all grounds, and they are on sanded down to bare metal paint. Is the the RCA cables that go bad, or on the headunit itself?
vis carbon fiber SRT hood, 17 ' excel dl-46 Srt front, Srt wing, Mopar rear Lip, Mopar Sides,
i used to get a TON of the same noise hes describing and i can never fugure out where or why it was doing it.
i just transfered everything to my VW yesterday and those noises are gone. so im now perplexed.
given how the neon is constructed compared to the VW the only thing i can think of is the ground lines. if the radio or amp have a bad ground it will do this. ive seen groundig the outside of the RCA's can sometimes fix this or regrounding the radio or making sure the amp is grounded to the frame

I just did this today, and so far it got rid of the noise. Very easy to do. ThanksAnonymous User wrote:Pioneer decks have a tendency to get engine whine/noise through the RCA outputs, b/c of a bad ground solder in the deck itself.
