no brake lights and stuck in Park.

Post by harozero1 » Thu Aug 28, 2008 7:03 am

so a few weeks ago i had a problem with the MFS and i replaced it. everything was good, then this morning i drove to WAWA, and shut it off. When i can back out it started but i couldn't get it out of park. Then i noticed i had no brake lights. I got i home and the fuse was blown. Changed it and hit the brakes and it blew, if i replace it and start the car it is fine until i hit the brakes. is this a bad ground? where do the brake light wires run in the car, and is there one spot that is more prone to rub through then others?

Unfortunately I can't help you with your problem... but it's nice to see someone really local to me.

the mfs and your problem most likely arent related. there is definately a wire grounding out, check the wire coming out out your break pedal and see if its grounding out since that one directly affects the shifter and not the lights. if its fine then its another wire grounding out.

either way tho something is shorting out and you gotta find out witch wire it is. if you have a muli-meter that tests continuity, you can start checking wires by disconecting the battery and testing to see what wire is grouding out to metal
