projectors don't fit correctly?

Post by haste4daylight » Thu Aug 28, 2008 5:09 pm

i purchased the set of 2000 - 2002 dodge neon projector headlights from Modern Performance and i installed them today but i ran into some problems. Only 1 of the 2 screws that hold in the headlight in aligned correctly. The screw that is inserted by the turn signal does not fit all the way. So what i did was just put The one screw and left it like that. I tried to readjust the headlights fitting but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Could my problem be because i have a plymouth 2000 Neon rather then a Dodge?

iirc there shouldnt be any difference between the plymouth and the dodge, i could be mistaken though.

Nope, no difference between Dodge and Plymouth. When you say that the screw wouldn't go all the way in, do you mean that the threads on top wouldn't catch?

The screw needs to go through the headlamp, the top of the core support, through the bottom headlamp bracket, then into the metal clip at the bottom of the headlamp bucket before the threads will catch. Sometimes you have to push the bottom part of the headlamp back slightly so the screw drops through all the right places first.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

you don't have the choice to make them fit by cutting the hole to make it fit.

Is it possible that the adjusting screws are hung up on the core support? I know that the OE headlights have the ability to turn the adjusting screws down so you can install the lights easier.

Its possible the whole headlight assembly didn't seat right. I know when i changed out my oem lights for aftermarket ones, it took me a few trys until it finally lined up.

The projectors don't use that kind of adjusting screws.

I agree with sully. Try redoing it a couple times. Maby it is hung up on something.

I have the same set... you have to massage the holes to get it to fit perfect. its normal, ive had mine for a year and a half. same deal. take a file and little by little just open it up and no problem.

well thanks for all the help... i have not succesfully gotten it on correctly but i'll keep trying till i do.. i also had another question. And i know there are threads to end all threads for the halo and led wiring. But i just had a question, on my side marker are two solid black wires and one with a white strip running threw it. Am i supposed to wire all the black wires to one of those on the side marker or do i wire the white and black led and halo wires to both the side marker wires? I've read a few topics that i had to ground the negative wire.

The wire with the white stripe is the power wire. The one without it is the ground. Put the ground wire to a metal spot on the car(frame, neg battery terminal, etc) and then how ever you want to power it wheter it be the parking lights or what ever else you want to do.

I would assume one is for vertical and the other is horizontal adjustment. I usually put a piece of tape on the wall and use that as a reference to see how the beam is moving.

ok so i figured out what the problem was but still no solution.... heres a picture since im no good with explaining.

the back part of the turnsignals seems to be preventing the lite to enter further into place in order for me to be able to fit the screw mounting the headlight.... has anyone else ever has a problem with this? I tried to force the headlight into place but doesn't seem to get me anywhere. Im stumped :cussing:

Has the car ever been in a front-end collision? Looks like you might have to bend that metal bracket back a bit. That or like they've said shave the headlight housing a bit...

I say take a rubber mallet and straighten out that metal piece, the headlight should fit fine after that.
