SOHC Turbo?

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

SOHC Turbo?

Post by Dimas » Sat Aug 30, 2008 3:22 pm

Alright quick question guys, since at the moment at work in Afghanistan. Prob. a dumb question too.

Money wise and power wise versus an SRT swap

Can I get a SOHC turbo? Worth it ? Cheaper than a SRT swap you think in ur opinion?

How much power you think I can get outta of it? How much would it cost? Any sites? Thanks for your help guys.
Heh.

6 one, half dozen the other. SRT swaps make 250 without extra toys. Turbo kits on the stock 2.0 make 250 without internals. One thing that's nice is if you ever want to make more power, the ASP kit includes tuning that will work even if you're making 2000hp.
ASP - First NGC SOHC in the 13s and the 12s. First SOHC neon over 500whp. First NGC Neon on MS.

I'm pretty new to the mechanical world especially engine wise, what do you mean 250 wise w/out intervals?

Any sites I can check out for more information?

Internals meaning the internal engine components: pistons, rods, crank, cam, etc.

There is a book with a lot of good turbo information, Maximum Boost by corky bell.

Also, look on www.howstuffworks.com They do a good job of explaining engines and turbo systems.

Cheaper way is nitrous. If you want boost, it's more reliable, and more expensive.
