WOT and RPM switch

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

WOT and RPM switch

Post by ZeroChad » Tue Sep 02, 2008 1:33 pm

I'm having trouble getting my switches to function properly. They're both being used to control my butterfly actuator on my mag intake.

Has anyone here gotten the Zex WOT TPS switch to work properly? I have it hooked up properly, yet it actuates at around 1/8 throttle. I'm thinking that it could be due to different voltage readings form having the car running or off (during programming).

The Summit racing RPM switch said it shouldn't need a tach adapter. Has anyone used this piece before? No matter what cyl setting I have it on its not functioning properly. I'm considering using the low voltage signal wire, but I'm not sure what the voltage is for the wires leading to the coil pack. My voltmeter isn't working so I can't really check.

I have both switches inside of the cabin and all of the connections seem to be right. I'll post a wiring diagram of my relay logic if I can find it.

I can't help you on this one, but I can move you to the right section

*Edit* Errr...maybe not. That was supposed to go to Engine :tardbang:
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

I think you do need the MSD tach adapter to convert your voltage readings.

I miss my neon at times. She treated me well and taught me a lot about cars in general. I will always have a special place in my heart for these cars. Heres to the 2gn community.

My ZEX WOT has always worked like it's supposed to. I use the MSD rpm switch (can't remember the model number, check my garage) and it is set to 2Cyl. Is your relay layout setup so the WOT is before the RPM switch? It should be, that's how mine is and it's always worked. The only thing I've noticed is I really have to be full WOT for it to active. Sometimes I think I am, and i don't hear it open....I push just a little harder, and WAAAAAHHHHH!, there is goes. :D
