I heard the first single, where it sounds like Hetfield is trying to actually sing instead of growling like he does well... not sure I'm a fan just yet, but it cannot possibly be any worse than St. Anger was...

Seems like Metallica should retire huh?

I never thought they should have started in the first place. They suck.

I love their old stuff. Seek and Destroy, Sanitarium, Trapped Under Ice etc... those songs will rev me up for anything I want to do.

They started a decline after the Black album, but I still loved Load and Reload. Garage Inc was kind of interesting, St. Anger they should be shot in the head for, and this new one has potential, so we'll see if it works for 'em.

i love the argument people make that they need to sound like they used to or go back to this or that... some mid 40s guys need to sound like they are still 20.... not gonna happen.

Welcoming Back the Sounds of And Justice For All!!! This album just has that sound...no bass, all drums, 4 minute solos by Kirk, and of course James vocals.

i know lots of metal bands that are like 35+ in age. so i don't see how that has anything to do with it. Not ragging on them. They just changed their style. I don't really care for the newer stuff. Older stuff just kicked so much more ass.

The more I listen to "The Day that Never Comes" from their new album, the more I'm liking it. I may give it a shot after all...

The question that should be asked here is did they go #1 because they are good or because people just don't know how to let go...

I personally think Metalica died after their black (self titled) album.

Metallica, :-k was never my type of metal. All I ever really listen to is metal, (even to this day it's only metal) but I'm older than most here (yes, I know) and my taste in heavy metal differs greatly than you young whipper snappers that are into Metallica's type of music. Although they did seem to contribute quite a lot at one point. Good, Bad or indifferent..... true and loyal fans will always support their favorite bands through thick and thin. As I have done with my favorite groups and they've always pulled through for me. :headbang:

I love their old albums (self-title and back). But I'll be honest, after listening to St. Anger, Death Magnet sounds great. It isn't old Metallica, but I still like the album.
