Thoughts on these wheels?

Post by TheRandom1 » Thu Sep 04, 2008 2:04 pm

Opinions on these wheels? I kind of like them for my car, but now sure... I'd go with the silver finish over the chrome, and definitely 16" size, but maybe some more backspacing so they don't rub like my PT wheels do.

Wow... it seems I'm the only one who likes them so far. Even people not on the board have said no.

I honestly don't think they are all that bad. Though they wouldn't look good in chrome at all, I agree with you. Maybe have someone chop them onto the car for you so you could see what you were getting yourself into.

I'm not a big fan of the wheels, but this makes me scratch my head...
16x7.5
Offset: 40mm
Backspacing: 5.82"
Bolt Pattern: 5-100
Rec. Tire Size: 195/50-16
WTF?!?!?!

If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Dante: Well, that size is the stock size for R/T's I think? (I based my search on an R/T for these) but I dunno anything really about wheel sizes and/or backspacing...

jetas: Did you use the chrome pic? That looks way too shiny for what I'm thinking of... plus I'm sticking with 16's which would be the same size as the PT's lol. But thanks, I kind of like that too...

Ah, ok. That makes more sense since it was tailored to your search. But for the record, a 195 width tire+7.5" rim= bad idea!

There is no chrome pic. The Lighting is just different making it look shinier

I'd be running my 205/55/16's with it unless I can go wider...

Hell, with a 7.5" wheel, you can go 225. Just watch your hight.

I'd need to verify the backspacing of the wheel before I say that... with a 205 I barely have any space between the tire and strut and I rub the inner fender at full lock, so I wanna make sure of that... but I'd LOVE 225's! lol

personally I don't really like 'em either. I was looking at wheels too and ebay has some really good ones cheap- just find someone in your area so you don't have to pay for shipping.

I don't mind paying for shipping, I just want to find something that looks good and will not kill my budget... otherwise I'd go with the 450 apiece BBS wheels I like so much...

What is it about them that you guys don't like so much, if I may ask?

this whole post would probably be better in the wheels/tires section, but...

don't forget, especially if you have a Discount Tire local to you..
If you go on www.discounttiredirect.com ... they offer free shipping, but go ahead and pick out wheels and tires, go all the way to the checkout and print it out... if you take it to the local store, they will match the price! and they will mount them for u!

only thing is, you have to pay local tax, but because of that, my local guy conpensated me by giving me free replacements certificates on all 4 tires

I don't like that design at all... 5 spokes are where it's at for my car really.

Not to mention I don't want 17's... not at all, not one bit. I've had them, they're too big for my tastes. I want 16's!

I dig that chop... though I'd hope the wheels were a bit more dull. I like the coloring on my PT wheels, just not the design on them anymore, ya know?

So I don't think any of you guys who didn't like them mentioned why you don't like them? (aside from Eric who missed that I don't want 17's)

Anything specific on the design? the rivets, the spokes, the color, etc?

I feel they are too busy. With the rivets and the detail on the spokes it makes for a messy looking wheel IMO.
