Vac line question

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Vac line question

Post by Roach » Thu Sep 04, 2008 2:57 pm

Heres my setup currently, please critque

50trim turbo with external wastegate.

Sources of air/vac:
-Compressor of turbo
-(WG to Profec B boost controller)
-Profec B boost controller
-Wastegate
-Profec B boost gauge
-BOV
-FPR
-Brake Booster
-PCV with Oil accumulator

The WG to Profec has parenthesis because its already hooked up. I forget the setting on the Profec but I think its NC. Its the one that goes on left and right sides (not the bottom). Anyhow...
---------
Intake Manifold .... BOV, Profec B Boost gauge, PCV with Oil accumulator, Brake Booster (the line between the 2 green things is capped)

Compressor ......... FPR, WG, Profec B

---------
So all the boost controller stuff is a big loop. Goes from WG top to Profec B to Compressor to WG bottom

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I would hook up the FPR to your intake manifold as well. Having it after the throttle body will cause it to have a better source of both vacum and boost. Thats just my opinion. Everything position other wise looks good. I'm doing another build myself. Look for it in the project log section soon.

AGP (who tunes my SCT maps) said the fpr must be off the turbo source so it doesnt see vacuum as it will lower the pressure. Anyhow I was worried as in my old neon I had everything run off the intake manifold and nothing off the compressor since who really cares about the compressor pressure. it could be 80psi for all i care so long as what goes into the engine is what i want...

Thanks

dont hook the FPR up to vaccuum... when you're idling (and making vaccuum) your fuel pressure will drop, making tuning that much harder..

follow AGP's advice and hook it up to a boost only source

Forgot to add in a check valve to the line going to the FPR. Don't listen to me. :beatstick: :D
