Grrtrude - Ready to go

Post by esteinmaier » Thu Sep 04, 2008 8:07 pm

OK, folks. I've got enough of the parts together at this point that I'm gonna let y'all in on what's happening with Grrtrude. Let's find our starting place...

SOHC engine, rebuilt with Wisecos and Eagles, along with a few other little extras. Magnum cam.

16g turbo on simple log manifold, SRT intercooler, stock intake manifold

Fuel is MS2 with peak and hold, 1680cc injectors, OBX fuel rail, Aeromotive 1:1, walbro 255lph.

Never dynoed, but it ran 117mph in the 1/4 with about 0 traction, 23psi or so. I have had it up to 28psi, but it made loud noises, and I had to replace the intake manifold.

So then that brings us to the changes. The one I'm most excited about is this:

Image
It's a Bullseye Power Borg Warner s362 extended tip. .70 exhaust a/r. Should spool about the same as a 35r, and make almost as much power as a 40r.

Next up is a DOHC neon cylinder head milled .030 for extra compression. Crane 12s, crane springs, 2.7 rockers, 2.4 lifters.

Ramhorn exhaust manifold, 5" plenum intake manifold.

Goal: 675 whp, 9.999

Is that the turbo you were telling me about? The one you wanted to cash in your pepsi points for or whatever?

This should be good...can you go bigger turbo than that or is that the limit you will go?

you know, anyone else an I would question it ever being done.

but, seeing what you've done for neons, I expect this to be quite impressive

I doubt I'll ever put anything bigger in this car. Next car I build will have more cylinders and more than 1 turbo.

Actually, everything is planned out already. I just have to finish up this cylinder head sometime this week, then I can fit up the exhaust side. I haven't finished building the intake manifold yet, but I have all the supplies except for a few barbed fittings. I just have to decide if I want to give it a whirl with a single wastegate or if I'm going to go ahead and add the 2nd right now. I'm leaning toward that.

Something that will probably be kinda fun is that I'm going to plumb back in a stock exhaust. So it will be very quiet until I open the 4" cutout. Of course, the wastegate(s) will be a straight dump, so that will be a dead giveaway that it's nasty, but it's sure to offer up a few surprises to the unsuspecting mustang GT driver at the drag strip.

If no interior, no heat, and sitting on a bare aluminum seat is streetable, then yes. But in that case, it's been streetable for a while.

:withstupid: Much easier that way.

Ever since a brand new Dell computer was left on my old roommate's front steps by UPS...in broad daylight...in a rather bad neighborhood till we got home, I have my stuff shipped to work.

The computer was still there...good thing we lived on a culdesac

Stupid question, but did you ever get the body straightened out after being rear-ended?

No, but a 3lb sledge worked pretty well. And I had a friend jump up and down in the trunk to straighten the crash bar.
