I know a bunch of people would be disappointed, but that's life...lots of disappointment is inevitable. Anyways, I'm getting lots of my parts sold, which I'm happy about! All of the money is going to my credit cards and get a few out of the way and lower the payment on one so I can afford a nice house.

Well I got a few calls this week on the car...one yesterday, sounded asian. Asked me if I still have the "SRT-4". I told him that if he could find an SRT-4 in the condition my car is for $7K, he's a lucky man! But he said that he wanted to look at it and would call me back. He never did call me back, but he was asking a bunch of dumb-ass questions, so I wasn't too excited about that guy.

Got another call just about a half hour ago...this kid sounded more enthused and knew what he was talking about. He asked if the car was still available and if it was in good condition, and I told him it is in extremely good condition, being that it's a daily driver. Said he was a big car guy and that the car looked very nice from the pictures and wants to see it in person. I hope one of these guys goes through with it...

You are ALWAYS going to get those no matter what you put down... it's part of selling the car.

Yup exactly. You are smart selling it privately though. Just be patient.
Sucks you have to be so far north, like by Canada.. Probably harder to sell a car like that up there. Maybe if you were on the east coast where all the 2gners are at you probably would of sold it already.

Sorry I haven't been on here to update. I sold her about a month ago. Her new owner is a 16 yr old kid for $6895...hope he takes good care of her! I gave him the awards I won at Carlisle, so maybe that will let him know that it was a well taken care of car and that he should continue to do so. Probably not though. At least the car is over 100 miles away from me so i don't have to see it if it's trashed.

And my new ride (you guys are going to hate the hell out of me but I don't care) is a 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix SE coupe with the 3.4 DOHC V6 and a rare 5-speed manual trans. It needs work, but she's gonna be a very nice car when I'm done with it. With the extra money, I paid some credit cards off and kept the rest for a down payment on a house.

Yup, I knew there wasn't going to be any love for the GP, but I've always loved the looks of them with the B4U "aero" package, and that 3.4 DOHC is a quick motor and really revs high (redline at 7K). I'm going to start the body work on in this coming Spring and get it all preped for a new coat of black paint, then starting on the interior. But first, I have to make sure the maintenance is all up to date and replace anything that needs it. I also bought a complete parts car (my brother's old car) that is also a 3.4 5-speed and it runs...bought that car for $300, so I could rebuild the engine in that car and when this one craps out, swap it out.

So you sold your neon for a POS that needs work so you could have a down payment on a house.

Yup, pretty much what I said you were going to do. I love the GP's but you are still a fucking retard.

Thanks Chris. And Sean, how am I a fucking retard just because I want to actually own a house instead of throwing my money away on fucking rent? Yeah, then I guess everyone on this board that rents apartments/lives with parents are the smartest people alive because they'd rather own a newer car and throw their money away on rent than own a decent project car and actually buy something that will probably make good money off of in the end...yeah, I'm a fucking retard :tardbang:

You said when you started this idiocy that you wanted something reliable to use as a DD. So you sold your DD/project car for a DD/project car THAT'S IN WORSE SHAPE!!!!

That's how you're a fucking retard you twit.

From the sounds of it, he sold the neon, paid of credit cards, put money in a bank account AND bought a daily car that only needs a little work.

Sounds like a good plan over here, but that's just my opinion. Glad you're happy with the purchase!

Only needs a little work? It has several rust spots, at least one spot where it looks like the body work consists of mud and paint instead of a real dent repair, and it has a CEL right now.

Plus he said he wants to repaint the whole car. Depending on how much of that work he does himself, that's 1,000-2,000 right there to get a good looking (hopefully) reliable car. That still has 171K on the clock.

The rust isn't bad.

Get some sandpaper and some rust gel desolver, apply that a few times.. Then slap some POR over that rust and you'll be fine.

I love doing rust jobs, so much fun :D

That's not a good rust repair. Sure it won't rust again, but you won't get a good paint job then.

You can scuff the POR.. Apply epoxy primer.. block it.. apply it again. and get it ready for paint.

Like i do for a living.

I always thought you couldn't paint over POR15, interesting. OK, then assuming the rust isn't cancerous, the body work is easier. Still the big dent looking deal to work with.

And the cracked front fascia.

Just drill holes and zip tie the front fascia, drift style.

Yeah you can paint over it.

Its really neat shit too! I cut out this old rusted fender corner from an old MGA and applied POR on it and I keep it outside the shop in the back. Still looks great and its been over a year out in the snow/rain/heat.

Lets just say POR is FTW

anyways, back on topic.

I hope everything goes well with your new ride
