Yeah, I think Chuck and I have an idea of what I want...now he just has to whip out the welder and work his magic :)

Today's update...got my SP Performance cross-drilled rotors in! They look like real nice units!
Image
Image

If this weekend is nice, I'm going on a fall cruise with the Minnesota Sport Compact group...if it's not nice, I'm going to my dad's and installing my brakes :)

The Alpine head unit did not show...it was delayed a day, so it will be here tomorrow, along with my new Alpine amplifier. The UPS tracking number for the underdrive pulley said the ETA was today (Oct. 7th), but the status says "billing information recieved" so something's not right. I contacted the eBay seller and asked if they can find out what the hold-up is.

All four? LOL I have rear drums, my friend
The front rotors and the pads cost me $249 shipped. Brakes are not cheap to upgrade!

Update for today...my Alpine head unit and Alpine amplifier came in! :) Also, I went to Archer Racing and they had a few motor mounts, so I bought a top motor mount so I can polish it to a high luster and a near-chrome finish. Here's a few pics:

Also, my hardware for the intake manifold and valve cover has been shipped, so that will be coming soon as well. I bought a used Hotchkis front sway to match with my rear sway (not installed yet...). I may be calling up Hotchkis and ordering a set of front/rear endlinks, since the front sway is getting shipped with aftermarket endlinks, and the rear sway I have didn't come with endlinks.

Oh yes, I forgot...I picked up a stock oil cap today at Archer Racing as well. The top part pops off, leaving the threaded plastic part. I'm going to mate the Mopar chrome unit to the plastic threads somehow and make it work for my application. Here's a few pics I snapped:

I need to modify both parts to make them work, so that will be a project in itself. Stay tuned people!

Well I got pretty much the last of the stuff on my list today. The front Hotckhis sway bar and the manifold/valve cover hardware came in. Now I'm awaiting to see if my spark plug wires are coming or on back order...

Also, I started working on the polishing process of the motor mount and modifying the oil cap. The oil cap will not take long to get it right, but the motor mount will take awhile...LOTS of sanding to do!

You're going to end up with forearms like popeye if you're doing all that sanding without a belt sander or something!

Well I got the oil cap done! It fits perfect! I do have to get it powdercoated Hemi orange though, but that's no big deal. I was skeptical about the way I did this, but my boss said that if I use a nylon-end nut, there should be no problem with the nut falling off. You'll see what I mean...here's the pics!

the cap itself:

I heard back from Jeff from JRA Coating in Rhode Island (guy who pc'd my manifold and valve cover) and said that if I'm not happy with it, he'll gladly re-do it, so once I speak with him next Tuesday, I'll probably send it off to him. I'd like to get it stripped of the latest coating and soak it in some kind of cleaner, cuz he said the "sand" is probably some kind of shit coming out of the aluminum casting. I'm gonna ask around on some powder coating forums about it.

Also, I'm going over to a LOCAL powder coating shop today to get a quote on getting the motor mount coated in Xtreme Chrome powder that I bought from Crystalmarie last year, and also my sways coated in black.

The cap looks good just the way it is. I think the contrast makes it stick out better.

And you'll love the head unit. I was almost tempted to buy an ipod just so I could buy that headunit. But Im broke so that wasnt gona happen.

We'll see...but I liked them better painted orange on the painted valve covers on the old V8's than being chrome.

Speaking of iPods...I traded in my 4 gig Nano for a brand new 80 gig Classic and got the 80 gig for $150 :)

Wow that's a pretty good price on an 80gig ipod. I ended up getting the Alpine CDA-9886 for a pretty good deal and I love the thing to death. I still have the i-pod cable incase I ever come across an awesome deal on an ipod or iphone. Maybe after my VZW contract is up Ill jump on the iPhone bandwagon....

Anyways, I didn't know the old school V8's had the cap orange. Everyone Ive seen is chrome and chrome valve covers. Personally I don't get chrome? Kinda tacky IMO.

Mmmmm plum crazy/in-violet. :) Everything is coming along nicely. I'm with Nty and Korean, I'll have to wait and see with the oil cap. But put your damned rotors on!

Yes, it's definately a lovely color! Thanks hun, I'm awaiting the orange cap as well...and the rotors may be installed this weekend. We shall see :) Here's a few more pictures I took last night. I just installed the oil cap on the valve cover that's on the car now, and propped up the intake manifold to give you an idea of what it will look like...

Today I'm going down to a friend's house and we're going to build a custom enclosure for my subwoofer and amplifier set-up. Nothing crazy, just a nice, clean lookin box with a few nice touches here and there. I can't really explain how it will look...I guess you'll just have to see! Pics will be up sometime Sunday.

Alright, the subwoofer enclosure is built and installed...just not finished yet. I still have to wrap it in carpet, tuck the rest of the wires inside the box, and add a few little extra touches to it to make it "pop", but it's a pretty basic box and nothing fancy...just like I wanted.

Here's what I've been bumpin to the beats with in the past year:
Image

The new box (again, not totally finished, but funtional):
Image
Image

I'm also going to make a cargo mat that covers the remaining trunk floor, but not as fancy as Crystalmarie's mat...mine is not going to have any colored piping or embroidery, just a mat to make the trunk look cleaner. I am, however, going to be making a few custom trim pieces for the enclosure. I also need to put my rear strut bar on and put my back seat and package tray back together :)

The audio install wasn't over yet...I installed the new Alpine iDA-X100 iPod reciever (fuckin awesome btw), hooked up my door speakers back up to the head unit (they were on a 4-ch. amplifier in my old set-up), took the 6x9's out of the rear deck, and routed my new iPod 80 gig to hook up inside of my center console for a clean install.

I just had my boss order me some trunk carpet to wrap the box with, as well as some graphite headliner material so I can redo my headliner and wrap the pillars with it too. I think the graphite will look better than black, since there's not really any black in the interior.

I should also be seeing the Maddog custom Pistol Grip shifter within a few weeks. I talked to him lastnight and he said that because the Hurst unit is taller than the average shifter, he'd have to compensate for the extra rod height by extending the lift and push, and in the end, it should be equivelant to a 70% redux, which sounds good to me!

Thanks yo! Today I got my Crane FireWire plug wires in at work. They are real nice quality wires! I have yet to install them. I'm waiting for an oil change, then I'll do my pulley, plugs, wires, and some RedLine fuel cleaner stuff to get ready for hibernation so she'll be all ready when Spring rolls around :) I'm supposed to get my pulley tomorrow, so besides the Maddog shifter, that will be the last modification I'm waiting for...for now

I called Jeff at JRA powder coating in RI and he said that I can ship the oil cap along with the valve cover and he'd redo everything for me, no charge...just shipping. That's fair to me. So i'm gonna find a box, make him a note and send it along hopefully tomorrow. I still gotta start working on the damn injector cover too...

Yeah, we'll see how it comes out this time around. If it does the same thing, I'll have to go to the local guy and see what that "additive" was that gets rid of that "out-gassing" problem, and mention it to Jeff. The guy said he hasn't had a SINGLE problem with it since. Time will tell, my dear... :)

Got the UDP today :) She's a nice piece of work, and came with instructions and belt sizes (not sure if they're accurate or not). I'm also working on my interior again...ripping it apart and re-doing my headliner in dark charcoal (being different than everyone else and NOT going black) and also wrapping all of my pillars in the material as well. My friend has a 1999 Olds Aurura and has the headliner material on the pillars and I think that looks real nice. I got the carpet for my sub enclosure too, so that will be another project soon to be started...

Today I got my headliner done! It looks fantastic, but sorry...no pics as of yet. Tomorrow I'm going to take my camera to work to take a few pictures. I have run into a minor problem though...the B-pillar has that damn adjustable seat belt slider thingy, so I'm going to have to look at the mechanism and see how I can get that to stay in one place. Otherwise I'll be forced to spray dye the pillars, which I really don't want to do.

Why not just cover the pillar and leave the hole there like it is?
