ac pigtail
ac pigtail
i need help locating the pigtail for my ac
can someone please point me in the direction of where its located. thanks
i have all the freon and stuff in there, but i guess my pigtail is damaged so its not blowing the cold air. im not exactly witch pigtail it isDanteneon wrote:Which pigtail do you need? There are many...A/C control head, blower motor, blower resistor, A/C compressor, pressure cut-off switches...
Are you trying to add A/C? Or are you having some problem with a part of the A/C?
Yeah...going to need some more info.
Why do you think it is a pigtail? Does the system engage but not blow air? Does it blow, but only on low speed? Does the heat work fine, but just the A/C doesn't?
Those are the kinds of things we'll need to know.

If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

I'm just wondering then why you think it's some kind of pigtail. Did you have someone check the system out first? You say it has refrigerant in it...how do you know? How much? Is it under charged? Over charged?
I'm not trying to be difficult, but I wanted to give you an idea of how much is involved in an A/C system. The chances that it's a wiring issue is unlikely...unless there is more to the story.
My recommendation is to take it to someone who knows A/C systems well and has the proper tool to diagnose the problem.

ok well heres the whole story. i took my car in to get freon put in it and i took it to the place and i left they called me i picked up my car and the ac worked fine. i drove it around for a week or two and the ac went out...took my car back they said i needed a new wiring harness so i said w.e they put that in there and i picked up my car and left. ac was working excellent. then again two weeks late it went out i brought it back and they said the pigtail was damaged and i would need to get it replaced, but i asked them why the pigtail is damaged if they just changed the wiring harness and they said something must have dropped on it or something like that.

wait a sec the pigtail i believe is those metal cables that physically move something, theres 2 of them in the neons A/C controls. if thats the case naw theres no fuckin way that could have broke on its own those things are full proof unless you do something really freakin stupid when taking the controls off
and if i remember one controlled the heat/cold and the other controlled the flap
if they messed with it too the loop can easily come off when they messed with it if its not put back on properly. that or the gear is fucked up which again theres no way unless they fucked it up

There are TWO pigtails / connectors going to the A/C, if I remember correctly ( I had to fix mine to get working A/C, previous owners somehow damaged the wiring going to the plugs.)
One of the connectors is plugged into the bottom of the compressor, near the radiator drain petcock; the other plugs into the top of the compressor.
I *think* that one of them is for activating the A/C clutch; and the other activates the A/C itself ??
