My SRT-4s Value?
I have found a Viper(97 GTS for MAD cheap) and would like to know the value of my SRT4 if I sell it. Mine is a 2005 with 37,xxx miles, black, factory sunroof, Kicker Livin Loud audio upgrade and K&N drop in filter. The thing is it has a salvage title buts its being rebuilt by a professional body shop so it will look factory. How much could it possibly go for with the salvage title? My local Neon guys are thinkin between 10,000 and 12,000. Ill give the SRT and Neon community the first shot on it if I decide to sell. Thanks for any input you guys can give.
EDIT: To solve some confusion I am the 2nd owner of this car and DID NOT wreck it. I bought it from a salvage site across the state for little of nothing.

Yeah you won't get 10-12k with a salvage titled car. No one will want to pay that for something that was previously totaled. 8k....maybe on a good day. And like Josh said, you can't get a loan for a totaled/salvage vehicle.
Not to mention you are 16 years old you have already wrecked an SRT and you want a Viper? Priorities and common sense....

Hey brains, I bought my SRT wrecked, it came off a salvage yard across the state. Also the banks here in AR will loan out money on salvage vehicles, thats how we've paid all of ours.

I hope your parents are going to pick up your insurance on a viper. You will be paying like 4k + a year for that.
As for the value of your car cut the retail price in half and that is what it is worth as a rule of thumb. 8k would be a good target

And your insurance will be sky high....if I were an insurance company I would flat out say No to insuring the car unless I was getting 5-7k a year. Oh and the bank will give you an auto loan at an auto rate for a salvaged vehicle? They may give you a loan to buy it, as in a personal loan, but I highly doubt its an auto loan. Why would a bank want to put their name on something that is trashed already? Thats all we are saying about the loans.
Oh and I'm a medical student...with the highest GPA in my class, I do have brains thanks for noticing.

Oooooo...ownage! I agree with her
If I had the chance to buy an SRT-4 that had a salvage title (whether you totaled it or not) and knew it was owned by a 16 year old, I don't care how much you were asking for it...I wouldn't buy it. We were all 16 once, and if we had a car with power, oh you bet your fucking balls we used the hell out of it! I sincerely wish you the best of luck selling the car, cuz you're going to need it. I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just talking realistic

You are going to be a 16 year old cop magnet. I dont know your financial situation but the parts are rediculous, the hood alone is $12K. The old Vipers are cheap. They really hold no value and suck to drive all the time. Look up the problems with the car. Look into how much maintenance it going to cost you.A car like a Viper needs way more care than you SRT4 and the gas mileage is really bad on premium only.

Sorry for the defensiveness earlier, I was a bit warmed over from some other issues but anyway. Ive been driving a 350hp D-150 for 2 years along with my 4x4 and our Megacab. I like to think Im very responsible. Ive always treated everything Ive drove with respect( but that 383 is SO tempting) Too this day Ive only had one hassle with the law and that was over my carb acting up real bad a year ago. I do thank you all for your input though and sorry if I crossed anybody wrong.

True true, however the car is goin on my dads insurance. The 2wd I have only weighs around 3800lbs with 350hp. Its quick enough to get hurt in anyway lol.

vipers are a female car. i dont know if u have ever drove one, but unless u have narrow feet i woulndt get it.. my old boss had a 97 viper an when i drove it my foot was on the clutch an partly on the brake bc there isnt much room in them.. il just keep the srt-4 ... vipers are ugly anyways.. SRT-4 ftw.. shit i mean look at lilsparkplugs srt id take that over any older viper.!

Even if the car is going through your dad's insurance you still have to be insured to drive it aka 4k plus just to be listed as a part time driver. I wouldn't want to drop 350 a month just on insurance and then have to pay for the car 250-400 a month depending on what you could get it for. Then you would have to put 100 in gas every week just to daily drive it. Then on top of that the car is 11 years old and the maintenance will start to pile up so I would figure at least 500-5000 a year for that depending on the condition and I'll be nice and include oil changes in that figure.
Just to have this car you would be spending about $1000 a month on average to drive it everyday to school and to work assuming you have a job and then to whatever you do in the evenings. I wouldn't have a girlfriend if I were you...

Lmao, I already spend 200 a week on gas with my old trucks, not any fun at all. As it is I cant get a girlfriend anyway so I guess Im not losing anything here? My dad really wants to get it since its such a steal(14K). Im not sure though. Oh well, the SRT will be enough trouble for right now.

Man I wish my Dad was that cool when I was your age. I have talked to people that own them and they all agreed that they would never make it there daily driver. I say if you have the means then go for it. Just make sure your life insurance is paid up!mopar4life wrote:Lmao, I already spend 200 a week on gas with my old trucks, not any fun at all. It tore up the front cap mostly, no frame damage or anything. It also looks like somebody didnt know how to paint on the sides.

The cars are NOT cheap to fix.

Woot, time for a loan. We called about it today actually and it was already sold. I think Ill be rather content with my SRT-4 for a while unless somethin fubars. Im lookin to upgrade to a used SRT-8 Charger in 2010 or so anyway.
